There are direct rail services to London Paddington from Kemble rail station (7 miles), which takes approximately 70 minutes, or from Chippenham which have direct non-stop services to Paddington in under an hour.
There is a good choice of local sporting opportunities, including a number of golf courses. This area has long been associated with equestrian activities including racing at Cheltenham and Newbury, polo at Cirencester Park and Westonbirt, hunting with the VWH and Badminton and Dauntsey Horse Trials. A good range of both private and state schools in the area. Malmesbury school is particularly well-regarded. In the private sector there is Beaudesert Park, Pinewood and St. Mary's Calne. Excellent walks and rides in the surrounding countryside.
