This adorable cottage has instant appeal the moment you see it, with its chimney stacks, cathedral dormer windows and sloping lower roof. However, to fully appreciate everything this cottage has to offer you need to cross the threshold and enjoy the wonderful internal character features that abound wherever you look.

With its origins in the 16th century and the later additions built in the 1730s it was initially a milking parlour. However, it was subsequently converted into a charming family home and is located on a large corner plot in the delightful village of Shalfleet. The driveway and usual access is off Warlands Lane while a curved stone wall with a wrought iron gate on Church Lane leads to a large hard standing frontage and the front door.

This leads to a useful study or snug and the galley style kitchen with its range cooker, fitted units and stand-alone appliances including a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. This has open access to the beautiful dining room with exposed ceiling beams, a magnificent inglenook fireplace with a Bressumer beam and a working fire as well as French doors to the garden.

The dining room is matched by the charming lounge that also includes exposed ceiling beams and an inglenook fireplace with a working fire. It has useful built-in cupboards each side of the fireplace and French doors to the impressive conservatory. This more recent addition offers additional seating and dining areas with views across the garden. You will also find a family shower room and a cloakroom on the ground floor.

On the first floor there are three double bedrooms with vaulted ceilings and exposed beams including the main bedroom with its feature stone wall, fitted bedroom furniture and an en suite cloakroom.

The large garden has a vast terrace flanked by a lawn with shrub borders on one side. It continues as a path to the single garage and driveway passing a gravel shrub bed and a charming pond.

What the Owner says:
The cottage has been in our family for more than 40 years and I have spent many happy holidays here over the years. It is quiet and peaceful with plenty of places to go for lovely walks and it is not far to the beach and only a short drive to Yarmouth. Shalfleet is a friendly village and includes the Horse and Groom pub, a good primary school and an excellent village shop selling a range of local produce.

As well as the ferry port and marina Yarmouth has a 16th century castle, a Grade II listed pier that provides views across The Solent and a raft of restaurants, bars and individual shops. There is also nearby Tapnell Park and Fort Victoria Park.

    Broadband availability and predicted speed

Broadband speed is measured in megabits per second, with the number returned showing how fast the connection is. Each reading is based on the highest predicted speed of any major broadband network for services that deliver the download speeds. The following are the different readings that we may display:

    Basic: Up to 30 Mbit/s
    Super-fast: Between 30 Mbit/s and 300 Mbit/s
    Ultra-fast: Over 300 Mbit/s

The data is updated three times a year. The checker results are predictions and should not be regarded as guaranteed. For more information, see: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/about-checker#Answer_0_2

Mobile phone signal availability and predicted strength

Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:

Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services

Energy Performance data and Internal floor area

Any supplementary data should not be relied upon as forming part of any property particulars and OnTheMarket cannot be held responsible for any incorrectness in this data. See here for more information.
