The Elms is an attractive, Grade II listed Victorian house with a wealth of history and character.
Built in approximately 1850 for Mary Jones and her husband Henry Dickinson, a local Ironmaster, The Elms is one of the most notable houses in Coalbrookdale and, as such, is Grade II listed. This grand, six-bedroom house is beautifully presented with original features throughout.
Situated in a South facing elevated position with views over Bentnall Woods, the property is not overlooked by neighbours. There is a generous, wrap-around garden, two separate driveways, level parking and two brick garages.
Available broadband of 67 Mbps is ideal for those wishing to work from home and also offering the potential to create a boutique style B&B in this very popular area for tourists.
Location
Originally called The Severn Gorge, Ironbridge, a UNESCO world heritage site, now takes its name from the famous Iron Bridge, the first iron bridge of its kind in the world and a
monument to the industrial revolution which began in the eighteenth century. The bridge was built in 1779 by Abraham Darby III to link the industrial town of Broseley with the
smaller mining town of Madeley and the growing industrial centre of Coalbrookdale.
The Ironbridge Gorge offers a reminder of the origins of the industrial revolution with extensive museums, public buildings and original architecture all set within a traditional landscape.
Today Ironbridge is very much a working museum. The High Street and The Square house the main shops in the area which offers a wide range of giftware, furniture, basic commodities, food and antiques.
There is also a selection of excellent gastro pubs, cafés, restaurants, a wine bar, hairdresser and a post office. Ironbridge is close to the town of Telford (from the M54 approximately 6 miles) but provides easy access to the Midlands business centre and the national motorway network. The county town of Shrewsbury is approximately 16 miles away. There is a rail
link from Telford and from Wolverhampton to London Euston, while regional airports include Birmingham (70 miles), East Midlands and Manchester.
There are schools in the area including the well-respected Coalbrookdale infant and junior school, the Thomas Telford Academy, Abraham Darby School and the William Brookes School in the nearby town of Much Wenlock. Within the private sector, Wrekin College, Shrewsbury School and Shrewsbury High School together with a variety of prep schools are all within easy
travelling distance.

OnTheMarket may have applied supplementary data to this property listing, including:
Broadband availability and predicted speed: obtained from Ofcom on April 13, 2022
Broadband speed is measured in megabits per second, with the number returned showing how fast the connection is. Each reading is based on the highest predicted speed of any major broadband network for services that deliver the download speeds. The following are the different readings that we may display:
Basic: Up to 30 Mbit/s
Super-fast: Between 30 Mbit/s and 300 Mbit/s
Ultra-fast: Over 300 Mbit/s
The data is updated three times a year. The checker results are predictions and should not be regarded as guaranteed. For more information, see: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/about-checker#Answer_0_2
Mobile phone signal availability and predicted strength: obtained from Ofcom on April 13, 2022
Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:
Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services
Energy Performance data and Internal floor area: obtained on November 2, 2022 from The Energy Performance of Buildings (Certificates and Inspections) (England and Wales) Regulations 2007 or the Home Report if in relation to a residential property in Scotland.
