Description
Description:
The Danes is an immaculate period house of just over 8,000 sq ft and is situated in a commanding position overlooking a pretty valley setting on the southern edge of the sought after conservation village of Penn.
The Danes is approached through wooden electric gates and enjoys great privacy. Built of rendered brick under a thatched roof with Dutch gable ends, The Danes is a very elegant period house with well proportioned rooms throughout and high ceilings downstairs. This creates a very light and spacious property with almost all the rooms enjoying a southerly aspect and lovely views. The front door and porch lead through into a staired hallway off which are the primary reception rooms. The drawing room occupies the westerly corner of the house with an open stone surround fireplace, large bay window with stunning views across the lawn down the valley. The study, similar to the drawing room, has a large bay window and is well proportioned with two doors lead out to the south west facing terrace. The sitting room again has a bay window and open fireplace with marble and wood surround with alcoves either side and French doors out to the terrace. The dining room occupies the far eastly side of the house and has double doors leading out to the terrace. Steps lead up to the delightful kitchen/breakfast room which includes fitted appliances and an oil fired Aga. A fitted utility/laundry room adjoins it and a walk in pantry. Beside the downstairs cloakroom is access to the large cellar.
From the reception hall a wooden staircase leads up to the first floor landing. The principle bedroom suite occupies one end of the house; the bedroom has a large bay window with south westerly views across the valley. In addition to a walk-in wardrobe there’s access to en-suite bathroom with shower and bath. In addition to three further bedrooms and bathroom, the main part of the house also has a guest suite, again with a bay window and built-in cupboards and en suite bath / shower. Access to the attic which can be used for storage space, bedroom or games room.
Outside:
Close to the main house and again built of rendered brick under a thatched roof with Dutch gables is a garage with electric doors. To the side of the garage is a laundry room.
The formal gardens enjoy manicured lawns with a tennis court to the north western of the house and the grounds above the house are partly wooded.
Location
Penn is one of the most picturesque and sought after villages in the area; nearby Beaconsfield provides shopping facilities, with a frequent train service to London Marylebone. The town's excellent commuter links include access to the M40 motorway at J2, with the M25, M4 and M1, providing easy access to Central London, Heathrow and Gatwick.
High Wycombe mainline station also links to London Marylebone. J4 of the M40 gives easy access to London to the east and Oxford to the west, in addition to the A404 Marlow bypass, with its direct link to the M4 at J8/9. High Wycombe has an abundance of facilities including a John Lewis department store, a variety of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and leisure facilities, the closest being the nearby sports centre & swimming pool complex at Handy Cross. Within the town centre there is the Eden Centre comprising shops, a 12-screen cinema complex, state of the art bowling alley, library and restaurants. Nearby sporting facilities include golf at Flackwell Heath and Harleyford, with Marlow offering rowing and the famous Bisham Abbey Sports Centre, as well as pretty riverside walks at both Marlow and Bourne End. The area is also reputed for its schools, through the availability of a choice of highly regarded and established private schools, including Davenies, Godstowe, High March, Caldecott and Wycombe Abbey. The county is one of the last to maintain the grammar school system, with Beaconsfield High School, The Royal Grammar School for boys and Wycombe High School for girls being close by.

OnTheMarket may have applied supplementary data to this property listing, including:
Broadband availability and predicted speed: obtained from Ofcom on March 10, 2022
Broadband speed is measured in megabits per second, with the number returned showing how fast the connection is. Each reading is based on the highest predicted speed of any major broadband network for services that deliver the download speeds. The following are the different readings that we may display:
Basic: Up to 30 Mbit/s
Super-fast: Between 30 Mbit/s and 300 Mbit/s
Ultra-fast: Over 300 Mbit/s
The data is updated three times a year. The checker results are predictions and should not be regarded as guaranteed. For more information, see: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/about-checker#Answer_0_2
Mobile phone signal availability and predicted strength: obtained from Ofcom on March 10, 2022
Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:
Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services
Energy Performance data and Internal floor area: obtained on June 19, 2014 from The Energy Performance of Buildings (Certificates and Inspections) (England and Wales) Regulations 2007 or the Home Report if in relation to a residential property in Scotland.
