A stylish family home in a hidden oasis at the heart of one of Taunton’s top villages

Description

Rowford House is a fine example of a traditional village property which has been sympathetically updated to create a stylish family home. The ground floor comprises two reception rooms overlooking the walled garden, a kitchen breakfast room with adjoining dining room and a play room and games room. There is also a traditional pantry, utility/laundry room, boot room and a spectacular shower room with double walk in shower. The large kitchen is beautifully equipped and well laid out with an oil fired Aga, with gas (LPG) companion, an additional integrated single oven and a ‘hot tap’ for instant cold and boiling water. To the first floor there is a large master bedroom with walk-in wardrobe, a large guest bedroom with built in wardrobes and four further bedrooms. There is both a family bathroom and shower room on the first floor.

The gardens and grounds at Rowford House have been beautifully landscaped and planted to create a variety of areas to enjoy. The walled garden to the front of the house has a cottage garden feel and a wisteria covered veranda. The sunken parterre to the rear of the house is surrounded by useful outbuildings including a former garage (no longer with vehicular access) and a log store. The remaining grounds are left to lawns with a small stream and woodland area.

Location

Rowford House is perfectly situated in the heart of the sought-after village of Cheddon Fitzpaine.
Cheddon Fitzpaine is a small village lying about 3 miles north east of the county town of Taunton. The village has an active village hall and, opposite Rowford House, the popular Cheddon Fitzpaine Primary School. Further schooling can be found in Taunton, including many of the area’s best independent schools including Taunton School, Kings College, Queen’s College and King’s Hall.
Cheddon Fitzpaine sits at the foot of the Quantock Hills, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty, with a convenient network of footpaths and bridleways. The area provides ample opportunity for recreational activities with Exmoor National Park and the Blackdown Hills within close proximity and the north and south coasts both within an hour’s drive.
For equestrian enthusiasts there is racing at Taunton, Exeter and Wincanton whilst there are numerous hunting packs in the area and many good shoots.
Taunton has an extensive range of shopping facilities, a thriving farmers’ market and the county cricket ground, the home of the famous Somerset Cricket Club. Musgrove Park and Nuffield Hospitals serve the town and surrounding area.
Communications links to the area are excellent. Taunton’s main line railway station offers direct trains to London Paddington and the Midlands. The M5 Motorway (Junction 25) gives fast and easy access to Exeter, Bristol and the Midlands.
