Elegant and spacious apartment in Victorian lochside castle

Description

The B listed Lomond Castle is constructed of blond sandstone under a slate roof and was originally built around 1860 as a country residence. The building was completely refurbished, upgraded and extended to form a small number of exclusive apartments and two storey residences.

Entering the building via the grand reception hall with tartan carpeting and chandeliers the apartment offered for sale occupies the preferred first floor position and offers breathtaking uninterrupted views across the loch towards Inchmurran Island and incredible views of Ben Lomond.

The apartment is bright and welcoming with high ceilings, large sash and case windows and beautiful features throughout. The main reception room has plenty of space to relax or entertain and has been well designed, with the dining area on a raised level cleverly separating the room. The kitchen is well appointed and benefits from a range of wall and floor mounted cupboards, integrated appliances and plenty of worktop space.

The principal bedroom has built in storage and a spacious en suite bathroom with separate shower and extra storage cupboard; the characterful turret window is a particular focal point of this bedroom which again overlooks the loch. A further two double bedrooms, both with en suite shower rooms and one also with separate WC, complete the accommodation.

Externally, Twin wrought iron security gates allow access to the main driveway leading to the parking area beside the main house. The beautiful shared garden and grounds of Lomond Castle extend to approximately 6 acres and extend up to the edge of the loch.

Further benefits include double glazed window units, secure entry system, factored building and grounds.

Location

Lomond Castle is on the southwest bank of Loch Lomond within Scotland’s first national park: Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Some of Britain’s most spectacular scenery is around the Loch Lomond area. The loch is crossed by the Highland boundary fault and the physical characteristics of lowland and highland Scotland can be seen within a few miles of each other.

For sporting enthusiasts opportunities abound. The loch is well known for its water sports including windsurfing, sailing and excellent water skiing and wake boarding. In addition, there is superb climbing and hill walking in the area. The Arrochar Alps include four Munros (mountains over 3000 ft) and six Corbetts, the best known of which is The Cobbler. Ben Lomond is easily accessed by boat.

Fronting the loch is the Cameron House Hotel. The Loch Lomond Golf Club boasts an international membership and is a past host of the Scottish Open Golf Championship. The Carrick golf course is also nearby. Helensburgh is the nearest town and has excellent restaurants, bars and supermarkets. Hermitage Academy is the local secondary school, with Lomond School providing private schooling at primary and secondary levels.

Helensburgh Station has regular trains with a journey time to Glasgow of around 40 minutes. Central Glasgow (26 miles) can be accessed by car under normal driving conditions in less than an hour, and Glasgow Airport, providing regular domestic and international flights, within 40 minutes. Edinburgh and St Andrews are around 2 hours’ drive away, under normal driving conditions.
