Location
Glenleigh is situated at the top of the village of Lydbrook which offers a wealth of local amenities including a primary school - rated as 'Good' by Ofsted - plus a post office, convenience store, health centre and two reputable pubs.
The village straddles a steep valley of the Greathough Brook - which feeds into the River Wye - and offers magnificent views of ancient woodland from its high slopes. Lydbrook lies on the north-west edge of the Royal Forest of Dean - an area which offers 24,000 acres of magnificent countryside, award-winning picnic sites, family cycle routes and gorgeous walks.
The home at a glance
Glenleigh is a fantastic, spacious property that is encircled by beautifully-maintained sloping gardens to the front and rear.
The two receptions are found on opposing sides of the entrance hall. Plenty of natural light pours into each of these spaces as they both feature bay windows. The largest of the rooms includes an electric fireplace as one of its principal focal points, while the smaller hosts an exposed brick fireplace which houses a wood burning stove.
There is another expansive space for families to gather; the kitchen and dining room is an open-plan area that carries beautiful exposed beams. There is plenty of food preparation space and a pantry is tucked away at the far-end of the dining area, giving a wealth of additional storage. The well-appointed kitchen includes a double oven, an electric hob, an extractor hood and space and plumbing for a dishwasher.
A door from the kitchen leads out to a utility room which has space for an American fridge/freezer, plus space and plumbing for a washing machine and a tumble dryer. This utility area also includes a handy space plenty to remove boots and coats, as well as a cloakroom off to the side, providing plenty of space to clean up after an afternoon enjoying the great outdoors.
Upstairs, there are five bedrooms, all of which are large enough to accommodate double beds. This level of the property also houses the family shower room which includes a substantial built-in linen cupboard.
Both the front and the rear garden offer plenty of spaces for occupants to still and enjoy the magnificent view of valley. In the front garden, there is a peaceful patio area that accommodates a hot tub and, to the side of the home, there is a small gravelled seating area that catches the sun in the early afternoon. In the back garden, several apple and pear trees grow, as well as raspberry and gooseberry bushes, and there is also a small herb garden.

OnTheMarket may have applied supplementary data to this property listing, including:
Broadband availability and predicted speed: obtained from Ofcom on March 20, 2022
Broadband speed is measured in megabits per second, with the number returned showing how fast the connection is. Each reading is based on the highest predicted speed of any major broadband network for services that deliver the download speeds. The following are the different readings that we may display:
Basic: Up to 30 Mbit/s
Super-fast: Between 30 Mbit/s and 300 Mbit/s
Ultra-fast: Over 300 Mbit/s
The data is updated three times a year. The checker results are predictions and should not be regarded as guaranteed. For more information, see: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/about-checker#Answer_0_2
Mobile phone signal availability and predicted strength: obtained from Ofcom on March 20, 2022
Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:
Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services
Energy Performance data and Internal floor area: obtained on March 11, 2016 from The Energy Performance of Buildings (Certificates and Inspections) (England and Wales) Regulations 2007 or the Home Report if in relation to a residential property in Scotland.
