ABOUT THE AREA

The park is bordered to the south by the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the North York Moors National Park to the north. A little to the east is the North Riding Forest Park, so Keld Springs is in a prime location for those with a love of the great outdoors.

The resort is a short drive to the historic city of York and the famous seaside towns of Whitby, Scarborough and Filey. It is also close to some of the region’s biggest attractions, including Malton, renowned for it’s fine local produce and food festival and considered to be Yorkshire’s food capital, and Castle Howard, which recently appeared in Bridgerton as the Duke of Hastings’ country estate. The World of James Herriot, a multi-award winning visitor attraction in Thirsk, is only half an hour away.

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway, made famous by ITV’s Heartbeat and the very first Harry Potter film, starts at Pickering, 10 miles from the park, weaving through Goathland and on to Whitby, with several visitor attractions to take in on the way. There is so much to do and experience here. North Yorkshire’s rich history and culture, and it’s even richer scenery and landscapes have made this spot the ideal location for a luxury lodge resort.

ON THE DOORSTEP

Wombleton - 1 mile -The Plough Inn in Wombleton is a traditional local hostelry serving the best of Yorkshire ales and mouthwatering meals from a team passionate about fresh ingredients and locally sourced foods.

Kirkbymoorside - 3.8 miles - Every Wednesday sees Kirkbymoorside host a local outdoor market with craft stalls, bread stalls, cheese, meat, and fish vans, plus gift stalls, pet foods, clothing stands, and a large fruit and veg stall.

Nunnington Hall - 4 miles - A picturesque manor house run by the National Trust with tea garden, gift shop, open gardens and a play area.

Helmsley - 5 miles - Helmsley's many attractions include the Castle, Duncombe Park and the Victorian Walled Garden, and it has many delightful shops and tearooms to explore. Helmsley Castle also hosts the National Centre for Birds of Prey.

Hutton-le-Hole - 7 miles - Hutton-le-Hole is a walker’s paradise, and widely thought of as the most picturesque of the villages in the National Park. It lies in a natural hollow or hole, hence its name. On either side are the limestone headlands of the Tabular Hills, while to the north the land rises steadily to heather-clad Spaunton Moor. A clear moorland stream, Hutton Beck, splashes and winds its way through the mounded village green, traditionally cropped by the local sheep. Come to walk or cycle, or picnic on the green, and save time to visit the open-air Ryedale Folk Museum, right in the centre of the village. There’s a pub and several cafés in the village.

Rievaulx Abbey - 7 miles - Rievaulx Abbey is another property managed by English Heritage, and is the ruins of one of England’s most powerful Cistercian monasteries. There’s a great walk from Helmsey Castle to the Abbey, a museum on site tells the Abbey’s story, and you can end your tour with refreshment in the Abbey Café. This is definitely a desitination you’ll want to capture on camera, as it is as picturesque as it is atmospheric.

Yorkshire Lavender - 9 miles - Yorkshire Lavender is Yorkshire’s original family-run lavender farm, Lavender Gardens and Specialist Plant Nursery, set in a spectacular hillside farm of nearly 60 acres, within the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. In addition to a lavender, herb and gift shop, you can stop for a rest and refreshment here at EJ’s Tea Room, or take a walk around the sculpture park – they say their view over the Vale of York is one of the best in Yorkshire!

Farndale - 9 miles - Enjoy a classic spring walk in the so-called ‘Daffodil Dale’ to see Farndale’s glorious wild daffodils. It’s a straightforward 3½-mile linear route alongside the enchanting River Dove, from Low Mill to Church Houses and back, though there is an alternative return route that climbs through farm fields for some lovely valley views. Depending on the weather, the daffodils are usually out between mid-March and mid-April, but this is a charming walk at any time of year.

With so much to explore on your doorstep, Keld Springs will make an amazing base to enjoy it all from. It'll keep you busy for years!

As an investment opportunity, the lodges here are purposefully designed to perform to an outstanding level of return!
