Centrally located on the outskirts of Newport, this distinctive detached property has all the elements required by a discerning, modern-day family. It was originally built in 1939 and has been extended over the years but still includes attractive period features such as dado rails and ceiling roses. Although it is near enough for a brisk walk into the centre of the island's county town, the house is adjacent to fields and opposite a 100-acre forest, providing the best of both country and town in terms of location. Approached via a wrought iron fence and double wrought iron gates you sweep onto a large brick paved driveway where you can park numerous vehicles. There is also a large additional parking area at the rear where you can access the garden via a gate. A block paved path leads to the glass porch with its diamond shape black and white tiles and archway to the delightful front door that opens into large and sumptuous open plan hall and family space. This impressive area includes a dining area that is large enough to include a good-sized dining table and chairs and also a pool table. A very wide archway with brick side pillars leads to the elegant lounge with a secondary staircase and French doors to the terrace. There is a good-sized kitchen/breakfast room with a charming brick faced peninsula, a range cooker, space for appliances and dove grey storage units as well as plenty of space for a table and chairs. It has double patio doors to a stunning conservatory with views across the garden that can be used as an additional living room all year round. Adjacent to the kitchen is a separate toilet and utility room with a door to the garden. A large gym extension has direct access to the garden and could always become an excellent office for anyone wanting to work from home. Off the main staircase there is a galleried landing leading to the family bathroom and three double bedrooms including the main bedroom with its charming box bay window and a single that could be used as a study or a great kid's room. The secondary staircase leads to a double bedroom and en suite shower room that would either make an excellent guest suite or a ‘hideaway' for a teenager. The outdoor space in the sunny, south-facing garden has been designed with fun and games in mind. There is a vast block paved terrace that wraps around most of the property. While the above ground swimming pool with its decked terrace is an ideal spot for the family to relax and enjoy themselves.

What the Owner says:
We moved in 22 years ago and it is where we have been lucky enough to bring up our children. It has been a wonderful family home over the years but the kids have now all flown the nest so we feel it is time to downsize.
We have always felt that the location was excellent because we have lovely rural views and there are delightful places to take the dog for a walk. At the same time, being on the outskirts of Newport, we can enjoy all the amenities available in the town. It includes a variety of high street stores and independent shops as well as wide selection of restaurants and bars. There is a weekly street market and a farmers' market as well as a number of primary and secondary schools within the vicinity. Also, being in the centre of the island, it is easy to get to the various ferry ports for access to the mainland.
For golfing aficionados there is the Newport Golf Club, cricket enthusiasts can play at the Newport Cricket Club or watch teams at the Isle of Wight Country Cricket Club at nearby Newclose while St George's Park is home to the Newport Football Club. There are plenty of local attractions including a museum, a roman villa and the quay arts centre as well as the famous Carisbrook Castle and Monkey Haven. A variety of annual events take place in the area including the world-famous Isle of Wight festival and the boutique Eclectica festival at Robin Hill.

    Super-fast: Between 30 Mbit/s and 300 Mbit/s
    Ultra-fast: Over 300 Mbit/s

The data is updated three times a year. The checker results are predictions and should not be regarded as guaranteed. For more information, see: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/about-checker#Answer_0_2

Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:

Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services

Energy Performance data and Internal floor area: obtained on September 28, 2021 from The Energy Performance of Buildings (Certificates and Inspections) (England and Wales) Regulations 2007 or the Home Report if in relation to a residential property in Scotland.
