Canterbury is centred on the Cathedral, a World Heritage Site. Central London is less than an hour away by train, using the High Speed One Services and the city is home to three universities (University of Kent; Christchurch University; University of the Creative Arts) which contribute circa £1 billion to the local economy –which is the second largest in Kent.
Canterbury city centre has an extensive and vibrant array of shops, bars, restaurants and leisure facilities and there is ongoing investment in this sector. The Marlowe Theatre hosts world class productions and the internationally renowned Canterbury Festival is just one of the many cultural events each year. Education in the city is second to none, with one of the country’s oldest schools (King’s Canterbury), a range of grammar schools, and first class alternatives in the state and private sectors. The coast is close at hand.
Canterbury has two stations with services to London. The High Speed service to London St Pancras from Canterbury West takes under an hour. Road links are excellent with the A2/M2 providing easy access towards London and the south coast, and the A28 offering routes towards popular seaside destinations on the north Kent coast.
