Rooms

The Story
Those stepping into the Victorian, semi-detached house on Church Street for the first time never fail to be bowled over by its gorgeous and surprisingly spacious interior. Wandering on through the beautifully presented property, they then find themselves stunned by its incredible garden. The current owner of the four-bedroom house was also wowed by its outside space when she first saw it 15 years ago. “As soon as I saw the south-facing garden I knew this was where I wanted to live,” she recalls. “It was magical, not only 100ft long and not overlooked but it also had this amazing, 14ft pond.” The house itself also held plenty of potential to become the home she wanted it to be. “There was so much that could be done to enhance it while also focusing on its character,” she adds. “I knew it would be a labour of love and it has been. It is now a wonderful place to live.”

PERFECT AMBIENCE
Set back from road, the appealing, three-storey home is entered from the side. To the right is the inviting drawing room, with its bay window, striking, brick, feature wall in blue and solid oak flooring. “The ground floor has been redecorated this year: this has included laying the new floor and redecorating in Farrow & Ball and Craig & Rose shades,” explains the owner, who is passionate about interior design and has an eye for balancing contemporary style with period features. “I wanted to give this room a botanical look. It is now a really ‘huggable’ space, where it is lovely to sit with a glass of wine in the evening.”

HIGH QUALITY
The beautiful floor continues through into the dining room, which also oozes with style and – featuring vintage, French oak that was shipped over from a chateau in France – is a great place to catch up with friends over a cup of coffee or a dinner party. This room adjoins the kitchen, which in turn leads through to a utility space, and then the chic, ground-floor bathroom. “The kitchen features Neff and Bosch appliances, as well as glass hobs; the bathroom is Crosswater and Villeroy & Boch.”

LIGHT AND SPACE
The first floor of the house encompasses two of the double bedrooms: one of these is the master bedroom, complete with en suite shower room. “This is a lovely room, with plenty of storage; the shower room, which has been finished with grey subway tiles, is beautiful.” The other bedroom at this level is currently used by the owner as a study. “This is a very flexible house that can be enjoyed in all sorts of different ways.” But it is the top floor, created with an exceptionally clever loft conversion back in 2018, that she loves more than anything. “There are two more double bedrooms up here, plus a beautiful style designer loft Jack-and-Jill shower room - and I have the whole of this floor to myself!” she admits. “I love the space and light up here, and the leafy views. It is like being up in a treehouse.”

GLORIOUS GARDEN
The attention to detail and high-specification finish spills over into the garden, where there is an outbuilding, with electrics and carpet could be anything from a home office through to a teenagers’ den. Beside the house is a relaxation area where it is nice to have coffee early in the day; at the far end is a slate terrace, outdoor kitchen and entertaining space, for hosting barbecues or simply relaxing with a gin and tonic as the afternoon draws to a close. “You can start next to the house in the morning and make your way down the garden throughout the day" she observes. “What I love more than anything is sitting out next to the pond in the summer, watching the fish, when there are more than 80 lilies in bloom.”

SUPERB LIFESTYLE
Church Road is a friendly, welcoming community where everyone enjoys their privacy. “We have a fantastic lifestyle. There are lovely places to walk close by, such as Windsor Great Park and Swinley Forest, plus health clubs, sports centres, plenty of shops, good schools and a gastro pub,” she explains. “In normal times, I work in London, and can walk to the station in 15 minutes or drive in five. It is easy to travel by road, pick up motorways and get to Heathrow Airport.” Only moving now because she is relocating, the owner says she will miss everything from the unique ambience when she dresses the house for Christmas to the spellbinding garden. “This house is now ready for someone else to move straight into,” she says. “I am only moving to the coast to be closer to family – and because I love it so much that I know that if I don’t leave now, I never will!”

SETTING THE SCENE
The house is set back from the road, with a small front garden where it is possible for a small car to park. To the rear, the property opens on to an impressive, long garden, with spaces for outside entertaining and relaxation, as well as a beautiful pond and an outbuilding that could have a variety of uses.

Mobile phone signal availability and predicted strength: obtained from Ofcom on December 21, 2021

Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:

Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services

Energy Performance data and Internal floor area: obtained on September 27, 2021 from The Energy Performance of Buildings (Certificates and Inspections) (England and Wales) Regulations 2007 or the Home Report if in relation to a residential property in Scotland.
