Description

Formerly two cottages and believed to date from the 17th century, 15 High Street is a delightful Grade II listed home, with flexible accommodation. The kitchen has a tiled floor, bespoke, handmade cupboards and a stable door opening in to the garden. It also has a utility area to one side, with a traditional butlers sink and wooden draining board. Adjacent to the kitchen on one side is a dining room, with an inglenook fireplace and wood burning stove, on the other is a sitting room with inglenook fireplace. The drawing room has a fireplace and French doors into the conservatory which, in turn, has French doors onto a terrace and the garden beyond. The rear hall, with stone tiled floor, has a part-glazed door onto the terrace and leads through to a downstairs double bedroom, with French doors onto the terrace and an adjacent shower room and lavatory.

The first floor is accessed by two separate staircases, with each one leading to two double bedrooms and family bathroom (totalling four bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs).

A gravel path and mixed hedging separates the front of the cottage from the village road. To one side is a gravel drive and parking area. A picket fence leads through to the delightful cottage garden, with two ponds, areas of lawn, apple trees and numerous flower borders brimming with an abundance phlox, roses, jasmine, hollyhocks and hydrangeas.

Location

Great Cheverell is a pretty village set within a Conservation Area. There are wonderful walks from the doorstep and into the surrounding countryside. The village has a shop, church, primary school, nursery, a pub and a garage. Nearby Market Lavington is a larger village and offers a doctors surgery, co-op, chemist and butchers. The market town of Devizes is approximately 5 miles north, offering a wide selection of shops, restaurants, arts and recreational facilities.

A new railway station is proposed at Lydeway (3 miles south of Devizes) on the mainline to London Paddington. Currently the nearest station is in Westbury (approximately 15 minutes drive from the village) from where trains to London Paddington take 90 minutes.

The very popular Dauntseys school is a 5 minute drive from the house in West Lavington. Marlborough is approximately 30 minutes drive away and St Mary’s Calne under 30 minutes by car. The A303 provides access to the south west and London, via the M3.

    Basic: Up to 30 Mbit/s
    Super-fast: Between 30 Mbit/s and 300 Mbit/s
    Ultra-fast: Over 300 Mbit/s

The data is updated three times a year. The checker results are predictions and should not be regarded as guaranteed. For more information, see: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/about-checker#Answer_0_2

Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:

Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services
