What the Owners Say We have thoroughly enjoyed living here for over 20 years, the walks are sublime from coast to country. Our family roots of the area roll back decades and for the sailing and Thames Barge enthusiast clubs and moorings are nearby. We are now looking for a new project to meet our plans for future retirement.
History & Background An instantly appealing and characterful family home which dates back from its original core to 1929, where the attractive bay windows with stain glass detail and high ceilings still feature today. The property has since been largely extended providing versatile living arrangements, and easy adaptations could create a separate annexe for those with multi-generational living requirements.
Occupying an elevated corner plot on Maldon's hillside (close to the river & estuary), the property enjoys a deceptive L shaped tiered garden which is south facing with an upper rear lawn from which to enjoy the evening sunsets. Immediately accessible from the house is a fantastic Mediterranean style covered veranda for al-fresco dining and from the superb first floor bedroom suite is an upper balcony.
The property could suit a wide range of buyer; from those downsizing and wishing to be close to water to the larger families wanting a highly sought after position in town.
Setting & Location The property is situated in a highly sought after and historical road which runs immediately adjacent to the river and estuary. The history of the road includes the site of the famous Maldon Sea Salt and there is also a boat yard, with sailing clubs and moorings nearby.
A short walk up to The Hythe where the Jolly Sailor and Queens Head Inn are located, are also the moorings for the stunning Thames Barges, where the tinkling masts can be seen from the house. Downs Road is also on the England coastal path and for those who enjoy extensive walks can reach St Peters Way at the tip of the Dengie Peninsula, which meets with the North Sea.
The setting is most accessible, being walking distance from all local amenities including the High Street, local schools, supermarkets and various eateries & restaurants, not least the recreational coastal walks and children's splash park at Maldon's promenade.
Maldon Town itself is a thriving east coast town of great historical maritime interest. There is an amazing community with many festivals, including those of the Maldon Oyster Festival, Food Festivals and the famous annual Maldon Mud Race, which now takes place in the warmer climate of May Day bank holiday weekend.

Broadband availability and predicted speed
Broadband speed is measured in megabits per second, with the number returned showing how fast the connection is. Each reading is based on the highest predicted speed of any major broadband network for services that deliver the download speeds. The following are the different readings that we may display:
Basic: Up to 30 Mbit/s
Super-fast: Between 30 Mbit/s and 300 Mbit/s
Ultra-fast: Over 300 Mbit/s
The data is updated three times a year. The checker results are predictions and should not be regarded as guaranteed. For more information, see: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/about-checker#Answer_0_2
Mobile phone signal availability and predicted strength
Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:
Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services
