The Property
Dating from the 14th century, Birds Cottage is the oldest surviving house in the whole of the city and was built using a structure known as a cruck arch. This is a rare form of construction and only 130 such structures exist in England and Wales. Inside, the property would have originally been completely open. The Bird family - who lived there from around 1742 until the mid-20th century - were carpenters and the property has a yard area which still has a sawpit.
Property Highlights
The property has original features which include exposed beam ceilings and open fireplaces. The kitchen has a range of base units with marble and laminate work surfaces, a built-in range cooker and access to a walk-in pantry. The tiled floor continues into the dining hall which has an open fireplace, as does the sitting room and further reception room/bedrom five. On the first floor are four bedrooms - with the master having an en suite bathroom - and a family bathroom. The property is monitored by CCTV .
Barn
The self-contained barn includes a kitchen/sitting room. There is also a garden room, a cloak and shower room with two sets of French doors to patio areas. Access to the wine cellar is from the kitchen area and - adjacent to the kitchen area - is a door to the garages. The bedroom/office space is the entire first floor.
Situation
The property is 2 miles from M1 junction 14 and Milton Keynes Coachway. Local shopping facilities are at the Kingston Centre (1 mile). The property is also located within 10 minutes' walk of Milton Keynes Village Practice (for GP services), a dental surgery and a chemist. The Swan public house - which has won a number of awards - is also within walking distance. The property is in the Oakgrove Secondary and Middleton Primary schools catchment areas.

Broadband availability and predicted speed
Broadband speed is measured in megabits per second, with the number returned showing how fast the connection is. Each reading is based on the highest predicted speed of any major broadband network for services that deliver the download speeds. The following are the different readings that we may display:
Basic: Up to 30 Mbit/s
Super-fast: Between 30 Mbit/s and 300 Mbit/s
Ultra-fast: Over 300 Mbit/s
The data is updated three times a year. The checker results are predictions and should not be regarded as guaranteed. For more information, see: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/about-checker#Answer_0_2
Mobile phone signal availability and predicted strength
Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:
Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services
