The restaurant has been improved over recent times with the addition of a sun room overlooking the bay, but retains a considerable amount of original character and charm. LOCATION
Knoydart Peninsula covers some 80 square miles and is situated north of Mallaig in the Western Highlands of Scotland. Home for 120 residents to the south there is Loch Nevis and to the north Loch Hourn. Knoydart has a wild beauty that holds a fascination for walkers and climbers alike and helps to isolate the peninsula from the outside world.

Inverie is situated on the Knoydart Peninsular, a designated National Scenic Area on the shores of Loch Nevis, and is accessible by an 18 mile hike from Glenfinnan, or by a boat service (4 per day) from Mallaig or indeed by helicopter as a helipad sits within the subjects of sale. Knoydart is one of the last great wildernesses of Europe, boasting 4 Munros (Ladhar Bheinn, Sgurr Na Ciche, Luinne Bheinn, Meall Buidhe) and there are several corbetts (Sgurr Coire Coinnichein, Beinn Na Caillich and Beinn Bhuide). Knoydart and the sea surrounding it, is home to some of the most iconic species in the Highlands including buzzards, red deer, common and grey seals, grey herons, oystercatchers, dolphins and porpoise, minke whale, golden eagles, otters, pine martens, red-throated diver and sea eagles.

There are a variety of nature trails and mountain bike routes in Inverie woods, behind the village. These walks take you through a mix of broadleaf and coniferous woodland, home to a variety of woodland birds and mammals.

The Knoydart Foundation have also created a thriving Community Garden, established in 2010 using the site of the old Inverie House garden. They have small allotments, polytunnels, community growing space, fruit trees and bushes, and an amenity area with picnic tables and a lovely traditional herb garden. Plotholders grow food for themselves and work together to keep the community areas tidy and productive. The community garden has become a hub of wellbeing, encouraging social interaction and healthy living.

The Foundation also manage accommodation at Knoydart in terms of the Long Beach Campsite and a popular bunkhouse regularly visited by tourists. In total, inclusive of the aforementioned with B&B’s and self catered accommodation there is a 200 bed capacity for tourism in the local area.

Accompanied and managed deer stalking also attracts visitors who frequently visit The Old Forge which has established a successful reputation for its seasonal and local produce from the sea and land.

Knoydart is quickly gaining attention for its culinary offerings. The village has a Brewery producing a number of highly regarded ales, The Lookout restaurant, Knoydart Pottery and Tearoom, Knoydart River Cottage and the Doune-Knoydart Hotel Restaurant.
