It provides two types of houses, En-suit and Studio, each with a separate bathroom, a dishwasher, a refrigerator, and a microwave oven in the public kitchen. The newly renovated public rest area includes TV rooms, entertainment rooms (including billiard tables), self-study rooms and small gardens. Besides, there are laundry facilities, bicycle garage and other living facilities in the building. It is very suitable for learning and life.

[Location and Surroundings] Penworks House is next to Aston University, and it takes 2 minutes to walk. There are Bermingham City University near University of Ulster and University of Ulster campus. Penworks House apartment near New Street as the core business street is the most frequently visited overseas student. Bullring Shopping centre, Selfridges, TKMax and John Lewis on New Street are all the hot spots for shopping. The Chinese city near Bullring Shopping centre is a place for Chinese students to eat and eat, and the self-help hot pot, roast string, spicy spicy pot, karaoke and so on are all gathered here. Aston University: about 8 minutes' walk. University of Ulster Bermingham Campus: about 23 minutes' walk. Bermingham City University (City Centre campus): 15 minutes' walk. [Security and Service] In addition to basic living facilities, apartments also have 24 hours access control system and monitoring system to ensure safety in and out. The apartment has its own equipment maintenance team. After occupancy, any problem can be reported directly to the front, and the apartment maintenance team will solve the problem as soon as possible.

What iQ is doing

Whilst these are unprecedented times, we have been planning our response for a number of months to ensure that we can continue offer our residents a safe, comfortable and welcoming home, and we are well advanced in our preparations. We have:

Kept residents regularly updated with the latest information and guidance, including displaying information provided by Public Health England;

Been in close contact with our university partners to ensure a joined-up approach at all our sites, and to ensure students are able to access the support they need;

Taken steps to ensure that our communal spaces are as clean as they can be;

Put hand sanitiser gel in receptions and common areas for general use of residents and staff, in line with Government advice for practising good hygiene; and

Reinforced our well-established operational protocols for our staff, should a student become unwell and medical support be required.

Behind the scenes, we have also been making sure that we have contingency measures in place with our suppliers, to ensure that – as much as we can – services in our properties can continue uninterrupted.

As the Government is no longer routinely testing for COVID-19, residents may feel unwell with mild symptoms, but not know if they have the virus. If, however, a case is confirmed through testing, we will act quickly and decisively on the instructions given by the relevant authorities, and will work with our university partners to ensure a coordinated response, and to ensure that students receive the right advice and support. We will also arrange for a professional deep clean of the affected residents room, common flat spaces and any common areas the affected resident may have used, as advised by the authorities.
