Local knowledge

Living in Edinburgh
Edinburgh is a wonderfully diverse city combining medieval tenements and the winding closes of its Old Town, dominated by the Castle, with the Georgian elegance and more orderly feel of the New Town extending North from Princes Street. The city is compact and easily navigated on foot but boasts an excellent bus system complimented by trams and now city bikes. Incredible panoramic views from Arthur's Seat (one of Edinburgh's three extinct volcanoes) offer a completely different perspective of the city and are well worth the hike to the top. Edinburgh is not all history and architecture though; its cosmopolitan side is revealed in Michelin-starred restaurants, a thriving cafe scene, great shopping, a diverse nightlife, and more than a passing nod to the arts.
