Local Area

The only city in West Sussex, Chichester is renowned for its Roman heritage – there’s evidence of an amphitheatre, a city wall and baths as well as the spectacular remains at Fishbourne Roman Palace & Garden. This attractive and compact city also has a rich seam of Georgian architecture, an attractive carved 5th century Butter Market Cross in the centre and an impressive 11th century Cathedral.

Close to Chichester Cathedral is the thriving pedestrianised city centre. Here you can peruse a range of independent and big brand shops and lunch in the array of delightful eateries, many of which have outside seating for when the weather is fine.

Also in the centre, you’ll find the award winning Novium Museum where you can see the remains of the Roman Baths as well as many other fascinating exhibits. Or, for a change of pace, you can relax in the beautiful Bishop’s Palace Gardens nearby.

This buzzing city has a vibrant cultural life with many art galleries, Chichester Festival Theatre, which hosts world-class productions and The Festival of Chichester, a month-long arts festival held annually in June and July.

Just a few miles from the centre you’ll find Chichester Harbour, which as well as being a mecca for sailing, is also a wildlife haven. The harbour is both an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

With fantastic transport links, it's easy to explore the stunning Sussex coast and countryside from our new retirement housing in Chichester. Whether that's hiking the South Downs Way or traditional seaside fun at Bognor Regis or the wilder coastal beauty of West Wittering Beach, there really is something for every retirement dream.Getting to Location If you are using a Sat Nav system you may need the full address of this development.
