Features and description
- 2.50 acres
- Coastal
- Town/City
The property is approximately 2.5 acres and comprises two contiguous plots forming an L-shape, gently sloping eastwards towards the Indian Ocean, with mixed sandy soils and coral outcrops to sections. The boundaries are marked by corner survey beacons whereas the borderlines are marked by coral stone walls or chain-link fence.
Improvements on the site comprise a warehouse measuring 9,800 square feet and a double storey staff quarters. There is a borehole onsite and 3 phase power connected.
The property borders the SGR marshaling yard situated at the new port. The neighborhood is served by the Port Reitz Road, which branches westwards from the Airport Road. The road has recently been expanded thereby improving the accessibility to Port Reitz area. This factor has improved the area's profile as a commercial and industrial zone.
The plot is held under two separate freehold titles and is ideal for redevelopment.
Port Reitz is a district of Mombasa, Kenya, and is located north-west of the island.
Port Reitz is the location of Moi International Airport, the second largest airport in Kenya.
The area is well served by the Standard Gauge Railway which has just been completed and commissioned. The railway line starts at Port Reitz and is meant to connect the Mombasa Port to Nairobi, then Naivasha and eventually the Ugandan Border. There shall be a connecting railway line from Uganda, thereby improving efficiency in cargo handling from Port Reitz through to the Ugandan border.
Port Reitz area will also be served by Mombasa Southern Bypass, also known as the Dongo Kundu Bypass, which will connect Mombasa Mainland West to Mombasa Mainland South without passing through Mombasa Island. This is expected to ease traffic pressure on the Likoni ferry and also decongest Mombasa Island. These infrastructural projects have increased demand and prices for properties around Port Reitz.
