This delightful Grade II listed thatched cottage originally dated from the 17th century but has been completely rebuilt after a fire burnt it to the ground. This was done at considerable cost using traditional craftsmen and materials and in conjunction with the then Listed Building officer at Test Valley Borough Council. The cottage was rebuilt with a new timber frame construction and blockwork which was then rendered and colour washed with a new wheat reed thatch roof. The cottage sits in a truly special position within the common with far reaching views.

A stable door opens into the entrance porch which continues into the kitchen/dining room, fitted with bespoke, hand-painted, units by Martin Moore of Amersham along with polished and matt granite worktops. There is also a traditional Aga set within the feature brick fireplace. To the middle of the ground floor accommodation there is a cosy sitting room currently used as a formal dining space which is perfect for entertaining, complete with an
Inglenook fireplace, with a gas fired grate. Located at the far end of the cottage is the drawing room which has French doors to a terrace and gardens.

The first floor is approached by two oak staircases at either end of the cottage. The stunning vaulted main bedroom has a Jack and Jill bathroom with bedroom 2, and a staircase
from the drawing room leads up to bedroom 3 which has an adjoining shower room with a recently replaced shower.

Externally the cottage is approached over the Common via private road and a gravel driveway gives access to a single garage, currently used as an art studio, and additional parking spaces. The garden lies on the south facing side of the plot at the front of the cottage but is completely enclosed by hedging and wattle fencing and is mainly laid to lawn but with a paved area suitable for al-fresco entertaining.

The much-desired village of Chilbolton sits within the beautiful Test Valley and is located approximately four miles from the picturesque village of Stockbridge which has a wonderful range shops, inns and restaurants. Chilbolton itself has a good range of local amenities including a village shop with a post office, village hall, Church and the famous Mayfly pub. The village is also popular for its fascinating observatory, airfield and it's location on the River Test, which is famous for being the fly fishing capital of the world and is widely regarded as England's best chalk stream.
Chilbolton is approximately a 20 minute drive to the vibrant city of Winchester which has a comprehensive range of shops, fine restaurants and contemporary bars as well as the famous Cathedral and beautiful Water Meadows.
Connections from Chilbolton are excellent with the A30 and A303 easily accessible, as well as fast links to London Waterloo from Winchester's railway station.
