Life by the sea doesn’t get much better than this with gardens which reach right to the waters edge - now that’s something to savour. Min Y Mor is a particularly spacious detached residence, one of a select few properties in the vicinity which enjoy the delights of residing on the shores of the celebrated Menai Strait, occupying a slightly elevated stance above its landscaped gardens with a pleasing north easterly aspect overlooking this famous stretch of water and three nearby islets of Faelog, Tobig and Gaint.
Min Y Mor borders a stretch of AONB coastline and it’s not hard to see why. Watching the tides come and go is a daily delight as is watching the diverse birdlife which call this place home and of course, the sights and sounds of sailing vessels and such like that ply these waters. It’s fair to say, there’s never a dull moment. As mentioned, the property sits within generous landscaped garden grounds with direct access to the shoreline and a private mooring, so if you have a love for sailing and generally messing about in boats, then you’ve come to the right place. Part of the mooring has been dredged and dug out to accommodate a fairly substantial craft. The gardens play a major role for making the property what it is today and is a real credit to its present owner who has overseen its development and helped create a diverse yet practical space that just keeps on giving.
The interior offers generously proportioned rooms throughout and is complemented by a substantial integral garage (with electrically operated roller shutter door) that can swallow a car or two with ease and also acts as storage, a general workshop together with a utility/WC. You enter Min Y Mor via a conservatory which presents itself as a superb room to enjoy a spot of breakfast overlooking the garden and sea and on less clement days, you can still enjoy the location in all its facets.
The principal reception room fitted with a focal gas fireplace has dual aspect windows and quad folding doors opening to the conservatory, creating that extra perception of light and space, the dining room offers space for special occasions and family mealtimes (this room could theoretically function as a third bedroom if desired) and the kitchen has built-in modern oven appliances and a traditional gas fired range. The main bedroom, which incidentally also enjoys sea views has extensive built-in wardrobes and en-suite facilities.
Returning to the outside space, the property has twin timber gates which open through to a large private parking area located in front of the garage, with space for a touring caravan or boat. The gardens wrap around the property with a drystone wall boundary and feature an eclectic mixture of flora to include many mature shrubs and trees, some of which are quite exotic that provide texture, form and much colour and are complemented by a nature pond. A further section is dedicated to growing vegetables and soft fruits together with an extensive greenhouse. A paved patio with box hedge provides the perfect place to sit back and enjoy your labours.
Location
The town of Menai Bridge is situated alongside the banks of the beautiful Menai Strait close to a natural narrowing where the famous Thomas Telford suspension bridge crosses the waters between the mainland and island. In times past it was naturally seen as the place to cross by ferry before the bridge was constructed. The town has an interesting mixture of Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian architecture - even the main shopping area has a number of attractive traditional style shop frontages and all of your day to day requirements are well catered for. The town naturally has a sea faring heritage being a popular place to launch and moor sailing vessels with storage facilities also readily available. The vibrant town is a great place to eat having a wide variety of taverns and restaurants while situated on the tourist route for the historic town of Beaumaris. Menai Bridge has primary and secondary schools and the excellent road links give easy access to all the outlying towns and villages as well as the main A55 expressway.
