Set within the distinguished surroundings of Castle Malwood Lodge, this beautifully presented two bedroom apartment offers a rare opportunity to enjoy elegant living within a Grade II listed country residence, surrounded by the natural beauty of the New Forest and set within approximately 3.72 acres of landscaped grounds.
Extending to approximately 1,207 sq ft, the apartment combines the scale and character of its Victorian heritage with tasteful modern updates. The entrance hall provides a welcoming introduction and leads to all principal rooms. Two excellent storage cupboards provide everyday practicality, one being particularly deep and ideal as a utility style space with shelving and a high level window, while the second is an airing cupboard with wooden slatted shelving. Wooden flooring flows through much of the apartment, complemented by high ceilings and traditional picture rails that enhance the sense of light and space throughout.
The kitchen is both stylish and practical, fitted with a range of base level cupboards and drawers set beneath quartz worktops. There is space for a washing machine and upright fridge freezer, alongside an integrated induction hob with extractor and double oven and a one and a half bowl sink. There is a large leaded light picture window fitted with plantation shutters, offering a delightful outlook across the landscaped grounds and the woodland beyond.
The living room is a particularly inviting space with plenty of room for both comfortable seating and a dining table. A marble and wooden surround fireplace provides an attractive focal point, while bespoke built in shelving and cabinetry add character and useful storage. A large picture window fills the room with natural light and frames views across the beautifully maintained gardens.
Bedroom one is a generous double bedroom with wooden flooring and two built in double wardrobes providing excellent storage. A large leaded light window overlooks the gardens and grounds, while a door leads through to the ensuite shower room which features a shower cubicle with thermostatic rain style shower, WC and vanity unit with basin.
Bedroom two is also a comfortable double bedroom with wooden flooring and a deep built in wardrobe. A rear aspect leaded light window fitted with plantation shutters ensures privacy while maintaining the period character of the apartment.
The bathroom is fitted with a bath with shower attachment, WC and pedestal basin with mirror above.
The apartment is immaculately presented throughout and benefits from recently installed energy efficient electric radiators and secondary glazing, creating a comfortable and characterful home within one of the New Forest’s most unique residential settings.
Outside, the beautifully maintained 3.72 acres of communal gardens and grounds surround the building and blend seamlessly with the woodland beyond, with the open New Forest nearby offering miles of walking and riding countryside. Residents benefit from a large parking area with a limit of two vehicles.
There is a single garage located within a nearby block, held under a separate lease, which is available by separate negotiation.

The History Of Castle Malwood Lodge
Malwood Lodge was built in 1890 by Sir William Harcourt on the site of an old Iron Age fort. Sir William Harcourt was a prominent lawyer and politician who became Queen’s Counsel in 1866. His political career saw him appointed Home Secretary in 1880 and later Chancellor of the Exchequer in 1886, where he introduced the death duties system that largely forms the basis of the system used today. He remained active in government until his death in 1904.
Lady Harcourt, his wife, was American and played an important role locally, founding a Woman’s Institute in nearby Minstead.
The property was sold in 1947 and divided into flats. In 1975 it was purchased by the Forestry Commission and the apartments were used to house Forestry Commission tenants. During the 1980s the property was sold to a developer and underwent a major refurbishment, transforming the building into seventeen individual homes, which remains the layout today.
