The main residence is a beautifully converted barn combining rustic charm with practical family living. At its heart lies a welcoming open-plan kitchen and dining space, complemented by a separate reception room with log burner, creating warm and inviting living areas. Three well-proportioned ground floor bedrooms are served by a family bathroom, separate shower room and utility room, while three additional attic rooms provide flexible space for storage, hobbies or occasional guest accommodation. A striking timber-framed oak conservatory adds further character and enjoys lovely views across the gardens and woodland.
In addition to the main house, there is a delightful detached cottage offering independent living space. With its own entrance, living area with log burning stove, bedroom and shower room, it provides ideal accommodation for extended family, guests or potential ancillary use.
The grounds are a particular feature of Cwmins, extending to approximately 10 acres in total. Beautiful wrap-around gardens surround the home creating numerous peaceful seating areas, thoughtfully planted with established shrubs, herbs and colourful flowers, raspberry bushes and in addition a delightful apple and plum tree orchard. Beyond the formal gardens lie approximately 4 acres of mature woodland with winding pathways, a stream running along it’s boundary together with around 6 acres of grazing and paddocks planted with a variety of trees, forming a haven for wildlife and those seeking a self-sufficient lifestyle. Additional outbuildings include a studio, workshop, storage shed, carport, cabin and polytunnel.
Combining charm, versatility and significant acreage in a serene rural setting, Cwmins offers a rare opportunity to embrace country living at its finest.
Viewing is highly recommended to fully appreciate the setting and scope of this unique countryside retreat.
A Word from the Current Owners
As we drove down into the valley, we began to feel the magic!
On entering the land at Cwmins, we immediately felt at home, our dream of many years was becoming real, and although the fields were barren at that time, we found it easy to visualize it coming back to life.
Within only a year of planting by hand, hundreds of native deciduous trees the land was transformed back to its wild nature. Bee’s and butterflies returned to feast on pollen, rabbits, foxes, badgers, moles and voles made their homes in the meadows and woodland.
The wild pond and boggy woodland invited herons and ducks to nest and rear their young, along with buzzards and red kites. Owls, often heard, rarely seen, added to the magic of witnessing nature in abundance.
We have found endless joy in seeing nature thrive and have received so much in reciprocity, from wild fruits and flowers to fresh clean air.
It is not only the external life that we have found great pleasure in. The house too offers a wonderful flow, making day to day living easeful and enjoyable. The cottage, studio and cabin have allowed us to welcome friends and family for both tranquil and exuberant gatherings! The spaces too have been perfect for our creative and healing practices.
It has been a privilege to live in our home and to have been custodians of this beautiful land. She has provided us with resources from wood to fuel the biomass boiler, keeping us warm and comfortable in the house, to foods harvested from the trees and bushes, to a thriving polytunnel and outdoor planting, where a wide variety of vegetables have fed us for many months in each year.
And not to forget the ancient trees and flowing stream; these were the gifts that called us to settle here at Cwmins. We have enjoyed cold water plunging and paddling, sitting under (and yes, hugging) the exquisite old oaks, finding peace, tranquillity and an endless flow of creativity.
The last 14 years have been an exceptional adventure; we have fulfilled a dream that was visioned over many years whilst living in London.
For us, it is now time for a new adventure and for you, the beginning of yours.
