Little Barugh is a delightful hamlet set amidst unspoilt countryside in the Vale of Pickering. The neighbouring village of Great Barugh is home to several historic buildings including St Nicholas Church. While the nearby market towns of Malton and Pickering provide a wide range of shops and weekly markets. Malton benefits from a railway station with regular services to Scarborough, York, Leeds and beyond. York itself offers excellent shopping and a mainline station, with some services reaching London in under two hours.

The village of Kirby Misperton is one and a half miles away and is served by a church, playground and an active village hall which hosts a number of groups and the recently opened Dewars restaurant and bar There is a Post office which is open twice a week and a regular bus service, the Coastliner. There is also Flamingo Land Resort, a theme park attraction with Zoo, public house, convenience store and bakery.

Great Habton is three miles distant with a good pub, The Grapes and a cricket club.

There are plenty of footpaths, bridleways and cycle routes from the village linking the adjoining villages, Pickering and Malton.

The market town of Malton is now the artisan food capital of North Yorkshire with its award-winning monthly food and farmers markets, as well as a weekly market, and annual Food Lovers’ Festival backed by excellent local shops.

There are supermarkets, two breweries, restaurants, the Talbot Hotel, cookery school, tearooms, a cinema, theatre and Castle Gardens five acres of park.

Malton and Norton golf club boasts 27 holes and is situated about a mile outside Malton. In addition there is Malton Secondary School (Academy) located on Middlecave Road.

There is a station with fast and regular trains to York with connections to London Kings Cross, Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool. York is the nearest city about 26 miles along the A64 which leads on to the A1(M).

Dalby Forest is about 18 miles distant with countless walks and cycle trails through stunning scenery, an adventure course and on site cafe. A dark sky discovery site, it is an excellent location for stargazing. Scarborough seaside resort is east of Little Barugh and is about 23 miles.

The renowned stately home, Castle Howard with its farm shop and fabulous gardens is under 9 miles away.
