Location

Mouse Cottage sits in the heart of the village of Strathtay within the grounds of its Golf Course. To the north a bracken covered hillside is interspersed with native woodland that is carpeted with bluebells in the spring and vibrant with colour in Autumn. Strathtay is a picturesque highland village located on the banks of the River Tay. It is characterised by a mixture of pretty traditional cottages and impressive Victorian villas in large established gardens. Strathtay has a local shop (with post office) and is linked via a bridge to the village of Grandtully on the south side of the river. Grandtully has a primary school, village hall, and two popular hotel/restaurants, as well as a chocolatier with café and gift shop. Both villages have active and friendly communities.

Strathtay is well placed for enjoying the varied and beautiful local scenery. Highlights include the Rob Roy Way; a 79 mile walk that passes Mouse Cottage on its way to Pitlochry. There are endless opportunities for walking, cycling, climbing and water sports in the wider area with Schiehallion and Ben Lawers being the nearest munros, and a golf course at Aberfeldy as well as Strathtay. Lochs Tay, Tummel and Rannoch are popular for paddleboarding, swimming and sailing (there is a watersports centre at Kenmore and a sailing club on Loch Tummel) and fishing is available on the Rivers Lyon, Tummel and Tay as well as local hill lochs.

Aberfeldy (6 miles) and Pitlochry (10 miles) provide a selection of independent shops, cafés, galleries and essential services. Breadalbane Academy offers primary and secondary schooling. Pitlochry has a railway station with regular services, including the London to Inverness sleeper. The A9 provides quick access north and south towards Inverness (94 miles), Edinburgh (70 miles) and Glasgow (83 miles).

From Perth, take the A9 north and exit onto the A827 at Ballinluig, signposted to Aberfeldy.
