Walk through to the kitchen, equally light and bright thanks to an anthracite-framed UPVC window and a glazed door opening onto the courtyard. The bathroom is at the rear of the house. Lit by a frosted anthracite-framed casement window, square white gloss square walls tiles with charcoal grouting contrast nicely with light pink painted walls and slate-coloured floor tiles. The well-laid-out space includes a shower bath with a frameless glass screen, a wide black two-drawer vanity basin with a chrome mixer tap, towel rail radiator and a close coupled loo.

Head up the charcoal-carpeted staircase to the first floor, where the exposed floorboards continue in both double bedrooms.

You’ll find the primary bedroom at the front, spanning the full width of the house. With off-white walls, it’s lit by two sash windows with bespoke blackout roller blinds framing another fabulous radiator. Other details include a pendant light fitting, an over-bed shelf, a run of tall wardrobes, and more storage potential in the alcoves.

GETTING AROUND

Forest Gate (Elizabeth Line) is just 16 minutes’ walk away, racing you to Canary Wharf (12 mins), Bond Street (19 mins) and Heathrow Airport (47 mins). You can also reach Liverpool Street in 12 minutes, stopping at Stratford's major interchange just two stops away. Here, you'll find connections to the DLR, Central and Jubilee Lines, plus retail therapy at Westfield and foodie delights in the East Village.

Meanwhile, 13 minutes on foot, Wanstead Park Overground station connects Barking to Gospel Oak via Walthamstow, with a handy change to the Victoria line at Blackhorse Road.

It’s also easy to explore further afield, cycling to Leytonstone in under 10 minutes before catching the Central Line to Loughton, Theydon or Epping – you can also walk through the forest to Epping and get the Tube back. Alternatively, take a break to the Kent coast from Stratford International and out to Whitstable, Margate, Deal, or even Rye.

Our local sellers particularly recommend Ramble Café (famed for it’s cinnamon buns) and Fiore Truck in the arches off Avenue Road, as well as Giovanni’s Deli & Wine, Tipi Coffee Co. and Cups & Jars (eco-friendly grocery and café), alongside Joyau (for excellent food and wine), Tamping Grounds, and friendly pubs such as The Holly Tree and Leytonstone Tavern, a short walk away. Wanstead Kitchen on nearby Pevensey Road is also excellent.

Besides food and drink, there are plenty of local activities for families to enjoy. Some of the most popular include Can Club children’s café; Leytonstone and Leyton Leisure Centres for swimming, local five-a-side football, park runs, and running clubs; and Fitness Hub East, E7 Movement, and Pause yoga studio (all within walking distance).

Just down the road, the beautiful Wanstead Flats and Jubilee Pond provide a delightful environment to picnic, jog, or simply surround yourself with nature and wildlife. On the weekend, you can always head to the nearby Queen Elizabeth Park at Stratford.
