Location - Lode

Lode is a pretty village in East Cambridgeshire, tucked just northeast of Cambridge and surrounded by peaceful Fenland countryside. It may be quiet, but it’s very well connected with the B1102 running straight through the village, giving easy road links into Cambridge and neighbouring villages like Bottisham and Swaffham Bulbeck.

At the heart of the village is St James’ Church, a beautiful Gothic-style building dating back to the mid-1800s, which is open daily and hosts regular services and events. Residents have access to a village shop and post office, along with a pub that doubles as a Thai restaurant.

Lode’s most famous landmark is Anglesey Abbey, a National Trust estate that draws visitors from across the county. With its Jacobean-style house, formal gardens, seasonal events and scenic walks, it’s a wonderful asset to have on the doorstep. Fassage Hall is home to a sports field, cricket matches, summer fetes, coffee mornings and plenty of other local events. The village also has allotments and a community orchard. Families are well catered for with primary and secondary schools in nearby Bottisham.

For anyone looking for a quieter pace of life, with heritage and nature right on the doorstep and Cambridge just a short trip away, Lode is well worth a visit!
