Kildown Wood (part) presents an excellent opportunity for those interested in small-scale woodland management.
Set in the High Weald National Landscape, the woodland is open and light, dominated by two impressive oak trees, with a scattering of young birch and chestnut at lower levels. The site is flat and easy to navigate, with plenty of open areas, ideal for setting up camp in summer months.
The woodland is fully fenced on all sides and benefits from a private gated entrance. Laurel has been planted along the fence line bordering the access track and, as it matures, will provide the site with a good sense of privacy.
There is currently a temporary Article 4 designation in place to protect the local area. This does not affect the usual 28 day rule, usage and enjoyment of the wood.
The village of Kilndown is within walking distance and offers basic amenities along with a well-regarded restaurant. Bewl Water is a short drive away for family days out, while Royal Tunbridge Wells is just ten minutes away by car.
Ward is Rural Tunbridge Wells and the County Council is Kent.
Boundaries: The boundary is fenced on all sides. N and S border neighbouring woodland. E follows the access track and W borders open fields.
Access: There is vehicle access all year round (4x4 in winter months) via a track and shared locked gate. Parking is possible inside the woodland itself.
