Charming coastal property close to the beach and with glorious sea views available for the first time in nearly 40 years.

Description

The Red Bungalow was probably built in the 1930s and has been in the same family for nearly 40 years. The house is situated on a no (vehicular) through lane, faces due south and is just moments from the beach and with fabulous views over Lyme Bay, taking in Portland Bill to the East and towards Lyme Regis to the West. The property has a commanding situation with striking white washed elevations under a clay tiled roof and accommodation with a lovely feel arranged over two floors. To the front is a good sized verandah and access to an entrance porch, beyond which is a sitting room with sea views, open fireplace and useful bookcases. The sitting room opens into the kitchen which has a good range of wall and floor units and space for a dining table. An inner hall provides access to a double bedroom with sea views, a second bedroom with double doors to outside, a wet room and stairs to the first floor. Upstairs are two further bedrooms, both with sea views, a landing and a bathroom.

Outside
The property is approached via a no through lane which serves just a few houses and opens onto the south west coastal path and access to a heritage centre and the beach. To the front of the property is an area for parking with space for at least two cars. Steps from there rise up to a path leading to the house. A gently sloping lawn wraps around to the South and West with mature hedging on the boundaries and some attractive trees providing colour and interest throughout the year. Steps lead up from the lawn to a large paved terrace with verandah providing cover and shade.

Location

Charmouth is a delightful village in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty situated on the Jurassic coastline, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The beach is renowned for its fossils, and a great attraction for both amateur and experienced hunters alike.

The village offers excellent amenities including newsagents/general store, bakery, hairdresser, doctors surgery, library, restaurants and pubs.

Much of the surrounding countryside is in the control of the National Trust and there are an abundance of footpaths within easy access including the South West coastal path.

The historic resort of Lyme Regis is just over 3 miles and provides sailing, fishing, many independent shops and a variety of pubs and restaurants.

Axminster is just over 6 miles away with a Tesco supermarket and a further variety of independent shops and restaurants and a mainline railway station to London Waterloo.

The larger city of Exeter lies circa 32 miles away, with an international airport and large range of additional facilities.

There are good schools in the area both state and private. A primary school in Charmouth, Woodroffe secondary school in Lyme Regis and Colyton Grammar.

Private schools including Perrott Hill Prep, Sherborne School for boys; Sherborne School for girls, Leweston, Bryanston, Canford and Milton Abbey
