Features and description

Bright and considered, this one-bedroom garden apartment was reconfigured in 2017 in a style that retains true to its handsome Georgian surroundings. It sits on sought-after Camberwell Grove, near Camberwell Church Street, Bellenden Road and Ruskin Park. For quick travel to central London, both Denmark Hill and East Dulwich stations are a short walk away.

The Tour

The apartment is accessed through a shared hallway from the front door. Entry to the apartment is to a hallway, where a neutral palette accentuates the spacious apartment’s airy feel.

At the far end, light spills into the main living space from vast glazed doors that fully slide open to allow the full benefit of the south-facing garden. At the front of the room is the kitchen, with white cabinetry, a Bosch induction hob and an integrated oven. A dining area sits on one side, with the sitting area beyond - an arrangement that maximises peaceful garden views.

Positioned to the front, the large bedroom has high ceilings and a wealth of built-in storage, along with double glazing and timber shutters. Neutral paint in Paint and Paper's Slate II, adds to the sense of volume.

A shower room lies just off the hall, with a WC and mirrored storage cabinet. There’s a deep utility cupboard with space for white goods and room to tidy away day-to-day household items.

Outside Space

The long, terraced garden designed Chase Gardens is versatile for hosting, with a seating area just beyond the living room. There's a more formal dining area at the end, canopied by an olive tree. A mix of planting includes salvias, geraniums and silverbush, alongside easily maintained turf.

The Area

The apartment is brilliantly situated moments from Camberwell Church Street and its exciting culinary scene. Bellenden Road, Peckham’s pretty village with its excellent selection of restaurants, cafés and good pubs, is also nearby. The Camberwell Arms is of particular note, as well as local favourite Theo’s Pizzeria on Grove Lane. Silk Road, Forza, and Nandine and are all local favourites.

Close at hand, and perfect for a Saturday morning bun run, is the inimitable TOAD bakery, whilst Gladwell’s is the spot for picking up deli goods for a picnic. Café Mondo is an exciting newer opening serving delicious, heartily filled sandwiches.

There are plenty of pubs locally, including The Peckham Pelican, The Sun with its large, south-facing beer garden, The Joiner’s Arms, which runs a much-loved local open mic night, and The Prince of Wales on the beautifully preserved Georgian Cleaver Square. Verasion Wines and The Stormbird offer an alternative focus on natural wines and craft beers respectively.

The green spaces of Ruskin Park, Burgess Parks and Peckham Rye are all within easy walking distance, while local leisure facilities include the nearby Butterfly Tennis Club and Camberwell Green’s swimming pool. Ruskin Park is recently home to a popular community sauna, with hot showers and cold plunges. Local cultural distractions are plentiful and include the South London Gallery and Dulwich Picture Gallery.

Denmark Hill station is a short walk away, running direct rail services to Victoria, Blackfriars and St Pancras International, and Overground services to Clapham Junction or Dalston Junction via Canada Water (Jubilee line). East Dulwich is only a 10 minute walk and runs direct services to London Bridge, while Camberwell is uncommonly well served by at least 10 bus routes.
