The rest of the area is mainly made up of forests and a vast plateau rich in limestone, home to intense mixed farming (maize, wheat, oats, sunflowers, as well as vines used to produce famous eaux-de-vies, cognac and pineau des Charentes), which is still one of the commune's strong points today.
