Upon entering, you are greeted by a large hallway, with stairs to the first floor and a downstairs shower room. At the back of the house is the main hub of the home, with a large open plan kitchen dining room, flooded with natural light through the Velux windows. The kitchen is fitted with a range of wall and base units as well as a double oven and new hob. In the centre of the kitchen is a breakfast bar and at the far end is ample space for entertaining round a good-sized table. From here you also have access into the utility room, with space and plumbing for white goods as well as an integral door to the double garage.

The living room is also a wonderful size and centred around an open Portland cast stone fireplace, with oak veneer doors and bi-fold doors out to the conservatory. The conservatory is a wonderful light space, currently used as a yoga/workout space, with patio doors out to the garden. Completing the ground floor accommodation is an additional reception room, traditionally used as the dining room but currently serving as the seventh bedroom.

To the first floor are five double bedrooms and one generous single room. The guest bedroom benefits from an en suite bathroom with spa bath, and the family bathroom services the five other bedrooms and is fitted with a modern white suite, recently retiled. The largest bedroom is an impressive 12 x 18ft, with dual aspect windows.

Externally the garden is beautifully planted with an array of flowers and shrubs, with patio sections closest to the house and in the far-right corner to catch the evening sun. Down the side of the property you have a further patio area, with wood and coal stores, bin store and a side gate. To the front of the property is a large double garage with an electric door. There is also plumbing here for utilities and ample storage space. The driveway is gravelled and can fit up to 10 cars.

The village of Uffington lies on the edge of the Vale of the White Horse, just north of the Berkshire Downs. Overlooking the village is the famous White Horse, a marvellous chalk figure which was cut into the hillside 3,000 years ago. The village has a fine church, known as the Cathedral of the Vale, and an excellent museum, shop and Post Office, pre-school, primary school, traditional public house, community hall and sports ground as well as a host of community clubs and organisations. Further information on village activities can be found on the village website
More comprehensive facilities are available at the nearby towns of Wantage (c. 7 miles); Faringdon (7.5 miles); Didcot to the east (c.15.4 miles), which has a mainline train service to London Paddington (c. 45 minutes); Abingdon (c.15.2 miles); Oxford (M40) (c. 20 miles); and Swindon (M4) (c. 12.4 miles).

Uffington has literary connections too. John Betjeman, Poet Laureate, lived in the village and Thomas Hughes, author of Tom Brown’s Schooldays, was born at Uffington Vicarage. Several of Hughes’ books are based on local people and places; the museum is actually housed in the school featured in his most famous work.
