Described as an 18th century lobby entrance house, the outer walls constructed of stone with timber framed internal partitions. It was originally 2 units with an end chimney but a third unit was added to the 'L' of the lobby entrance later. An old photograph shows the house in 1893 subsequent alterations probably in the early 20th century included the addition of a porch and dormers and replacement of the small pane casement windows. Contemporary farm range to down hill end small late 20th century range to'L' end and right angles. Crowlwm had an important religious function as it was a Sunday School for the 1770s and is said to have been the earliest one in Wales. Non conformity became popular in this area as it was not well served by the established church; this Sunday School was probably connected with Methodist preaching circuits.

The reason for listing - as being a good regional 18th century farmhouse with coherent early 20th century embellishment which exhibits the transition to stone construction whilst retaining the lobby entrance plan form.
