Woodland

Three Hare Hangar Wood is a secluded ancient and semi-natural broadleaf woodland, nestled just south of Exmoor National Park.

Oak and birch dominate the landscape but also beech, holly, ash and the occasional chestnut and yew can also be found. Bluebells carpet the floor in spring.

The Iron Mill Stream sits down the hill to the north, and conveniently, Three Hare Hangar has use of the area marked green on the map for swimming, picnics and camping, with some reservations.

The woodland is on a gentle slope for the most part but there are some good flat open areas that would make an ideal camp base for woodland activities. Woodland paths crisscross the site, making it easy to explore.

Three Hare Hangar is a truly private and peaceful space, with the only sounds being the wealth of birdlife that surrounds you—making it an ideal retreat for those seeking peace and a connection to nature. There is also a good 4G signal in the area.

Nearby, the Stoodleigh Inn and the charming town of Bampton are just a short drive away, as is Tiverton to the south.

The ward is Clare & Shuttern, and the county council is Devon.

Boundaries: The boundary is open on all sides. E follows Hangman's Hill, N and S follows access tracks. W borders neighbouring woodland and is marked with red posts.

Access: There is good vehicle access for 4x4 vehicles. Parking is possible within the woodland itself.

Covenant: There is a covenant on the wood designed to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of this and adjoining woodlands.

For viewing purposes, please park on the verge near the entrance on Hangman's Hill, as marked on the map.

Enter the site at the ungated top access track. Three Hangar Wood will be on your right.
