Description

Home Farmhouse is a most attractive Grade II listed property, dating from the 17th century or earlier, and formerly the farmhouse to the original homestead. Now part of a small, exclusive complex of refurbished farm buildings, it nestles within well screened part walled gardens with a timber framed gym and workshop and an enclosed field to the south and easterly boundary, in all amounting to over 3.5 acres.

Situated off a country lane approximately 1.3 miles to the east of the popular village of Hawkhurst and falling within Cranbrook school catchment, this well proportioned and presented family home boasts a wealth of period features and provides accommodation approaching 5,000 sq ft including the one room cellar.

The front door opens to the entrance hall off which lie two principal reception rooms; a drawing room and a formal dining room, both featuring attractive inglenook fireplaces with wood burning stoves. Further reception rooms include sitting and family rooms and adjoining the dining room is a versatile study/home office.

The vaulted farmhouse-style kitchen/breakfast room is of excellent proportions and fitted with a range of cupboards. Appliances comprise an oil fired four oven Aga and an integral dishwasher with space for further appliances.

Two staircases give access to the first floor where there are five bedrooms, a bathroom and shower room. Several of the bedrooms have built in cupboards with hanging and storage.
The attic floor has two further bedrooms, a shower room and an excellent recreation/games room spanning the majority of the attic.

Outside there is a substantial parking and turning area to the front and what is believed to have been an old weighbridge building. Well established gardens feature sloping lawns with specimen trees and planted beds, borders and wrap around terraces ideal for al-fresco entertaining. To the north east of the house lies a timber framed outbuilding which incorporates a gym and a workshop/bike store. A fully fenced field borders the gardens to the east and south east and in all the acreage amounts to approximately 3.5 acres.
