SELLER INSIGHT
With Taradale, I wanted to create a home that blends architecture with comfort. As an architect and surveyor, I used my skills to craft a space that is modern, practical and future-proof.
I wanted an impressive hallway, so Taradale has a large, 2 storey open hallway. The underfloor heating on all three floors is efficient and practical, leaving the walls free of radiators so furniture can go anywhere, to the wide doorways and ground floor main suite for accessible living.
The self-contained annexe was designed for a family member and it works very well. It has its own exterior access and plenty of space inside. It’s ideal for guests too, especially if they’re here a while.
One of my favourite rooms is the games room, we’ve had so many evenings with friends and family there, it’s quite a luxury to have a space entirely dedicated to fun! We’ve also used the gazebo almost daily. It’s screened so we can still sit outside in the rain and stay dry. It’s been great for BBQs and entertaining.
The office has been is perfect for someone who runs their own business, as I do, or works from home. It’s got plenty of built-in storage and it’s set away from the living space so I can concentrate there.
The garden was very overgrown when I bought the house, and it was a big focus for me. It’s now full of fruit trees and quiet corners with so much greenery. It’s very beautiful out there. I fitted the seat around an existing tree with the vine covered arbour leading to it, it feels like walking up an avenue.
Beyond Taradale, the village is wonderful, it’s a very friendly community. You meet so many people walking around the village and surrounding countryside. The Cottage Inn is just round the corner, it’s a good old country pub with a great landlord. The Boot Inn, Bull Inn and Bladebone are also great pubs. Upper Bucklebury has a shop, church, garage and pub which is unusual for a village these days, so it’s as practical living here as it is quiet and peaceful.
I’m now moving abroad so it’s time for Taradale’s next chapter. I hope the new owners will be as happy here as we have been.
