Description

A charming detached period cottage, thoughtfully converted from the original Castle Farm Barn and Stable, tucked away in a secluded private lane in the heart of the historic market town of Wallingford. Set within over 2.5 acres of beautifully maintained communal grounds beside Castle Meadows and just below the ancient Wallingford Castle Motte, the property enjoys picturesque views of the River Thames.

Designed in a barn-style layout, the home features first-floor living space that includes a Juliet balcony, perfectly positioned to take in sweeping views of the river and the town’s iconic medieval bridge. The cottage also benefits from access to landscaped shared gardens, along with an allocated parking space and a carport.

Offered with no onward chain, the accommodation is thoughtfully arranged to combine character with practicality. On the ground floor, there are two well-proportioned double bedrooms, both with views over the communal gardens and grounds, a fully equipped family bathroom with a shower and bath. Upstairs, the first floor is dedicated to open-plan living, featuring a bright and spacious sitting room with exposed beams, vaulted ceilings, and a Juliet balcony that frames the river view. The adjoining kitchen is well-equipped, offering ample storage, integrated appliances, and space for dining, making it ideal for both everyday living and entertaining. The recently refurbished oak flooring runs throughout, adding warmth, continuity, and a touch of elegance to the interior.

Outside
Castle Barn has an allocated parking space within a covered carport as well as an additional space adjacent to the house. The communal grounds of over 2.5 acres are beautifully maintained, laid mainly to lawn with planted beds. The gardens abut the floodplain meadows beside the River Thames as well as the Castle Meadows, with a pleasant view towards the remains of the medieval castle.
