Features and description

Description
Nestled in the breathtaking northeastern part of Coed Maes y Pandy, this approximately 13.5-acre block of amenity woodland offers an exceptional opportunity for nature enthusiasts and land investors alike. Set within a significant plantation on an ancient woodland site (PAWS) near the scenic Tal-y-Llyn Lake, this property promises privacy and tranquility in one of the most picturesque locations in Wales.

The land features steep terrain, with slopes ranging from 30-40 degrees, and boasts a rich mix of tree species. Conifers such as Douglas fir are complemented by broadleaved trees like beech, red oak, and occasional sessile oak. The lower slopes are home to small stands of Western Red Cedar, enhancing the diversity of this remarkable site.

Internal access is manageable, although some areas, particularly the central Douglas stands, are a bit farther from the tracks. The property is easily accessed via a subsidiary track that connects to the main surfaced forestry road, leading down to the nearby highway.

While the vegetation has not been fully surveyed to National Vegetation Classification (NVC) standards, this woodland is likely to be classified as oak-birch woodland. The acidic, infertile soils support a varied ground flora, including herbs, grasses, sedges, mosses, liverworts, and ferns. Adjacent to the property, you'll find the expansive Maes y Pandy Wood (PAWS) and agriculturally improved pastures, with the awe-inspiring slopes of Cadair Idris rising above. The woodland also contains evidence of historic charcoal production.

Maes y Pandy Wood is one of the few remaining large areas of ancient woodland in this upland region, making this woodland block an especially rare and valuable gem. With its unique setting, diverse flora, and proximity to other protected woodlands, this property offers a special chance to own a piece of Wales' natural heritage.

Stay on this road for approximately 1.2 miles, passing Llyn Mwygil Lake. The woodland is then on your right hand side.
