Features and description

This cleverly conceived two-bedroom apartment occupies the lower-ground floor of a Victorian terraced house in Hither Green, south-east London. The team behind the project is Frame, a design-led property group founded by architect Nick Mansour, in collaboration with architect George Dawes. Thoughtful interventions include lighting designed specifically for the home and a tactile, soothing colour palette that acts as an unobtrusive backdrop to day-to-day life.

The Tour

Set on the lower-ground floor, the apartment is approached via a private entrance, fronted by a lovely and bright private sunken courtyard garden.

The entrance opens into a hallway that connects to all parts of the apartment. A neutral atmosphere is curated by a mix of natural wooden floors and a soothing colour palette. Lighting was designed specifically for the project and is complemented by elegant switches and sockets by Belgian architect Eve Van Dyck and designer Thierry Donnay.

The living space lies at the back of the plan is divided between a kitchen, dining and seating area. Here, a wide sliding window with calm views of treetops floods the space with natural light and can be opened to facilitate easy indoor/outdoor living.

There are two spacious double bedrooms stemming from the entrance hall; both have sash windows that bestow plenty of natural light. One of the rooms has direct access to the private courtyard at the front.

The well-appointed bathroom has a free-standing bathtub and separate shower.

The Area

Wisteria Road is in Hither Green, a vibrant area of south-east London. Sitting between Blackheath and Lewisham, the apartment is close to many green spaces including Manor Park, Mountsfield Park, Lewisham Park, and Hilly Fields.

Lewisham is currently undergoing a large redevelopment, with The Lewisham Gateway set to bring new shops, restaurants and public spaces - some of which are already open.

There are many restaurants, cafés and bars in Ladywell. Local favourites include Oscar’s coffee shop, Wilson’s restaurant and wine bar, and the Ladywell Tavern, a popular neighbourhood pub with garden.

There are also excellent grocery shops including Plenty for natural wines and dried goods, Ed Baker for artisanal breads and pastries, alongside local delis Via d'Oro and The Larder. Blackheath Village and the green expanse of Greenwich Park are a short bike ride away.

There are several excellent schooling options in the area including Prendergast Ladywell Primary, St Mary’s Primary School, and Gordonbrock Primary School, as well as secondary Christ The King Sixth Form College.

Hither Green station is a 12-minute walk and runs services to London Bridge, Waterloo East and Charing Cross. Ladywell Station is a 20-minute walk with trains into London Bridge, Charing Cross, and Cannon Street. Lewisham also operates the DLR for connections to Canary Wharf and Bank. There is convenient access by car to the A21 and M20.
