For Sale: House, one careful lady owner! Well, for the last 36 years there has been. And before that, well actually six different people and their families have been resident at number 32 Victor Street since it was built in 1867. We know that how? Because unusually, we have a book commisioned by the owner that details the whole history of the house and Jericho and it's fascinating - let me know if you'd like to see it and I'll bring it along to the viewing.

So, the 'big thing' about this little terraced house in the middle of lovely Jericho is its size - a floor area of 1174sqft. In summary, there are three good size bedrooms - I would say doubles - two reception rooms on the ground floor, three shower/wc rooms (one on each floor) and an additonal kitchen on the first floor. Have a look at the accompanying floor plan and you'll soon get it. Outside, there is a pretty garden that although faces north west, genuinely will get most of the afternoon and evening sun.

And now to Jericho for those not in the know. This very defined community comprising mainly small terraced cottages was originally built to house the many workers employed at the adjacent Lucy Ironworks Foundry and the Oxford University Press - the former long since gone to be replaced by canalside luxury apartments. Jericho has been undergoing a natural, slow process of regeneration and it's true to say if you are going to live in Oxford, this is an enviable place to be. Have a car by all means but you'll only be using it to get to places away from Oxford. Walk easily to... oh I don't know, in no particular order: the Sheldonian Theatre, Ashmolean Museum, Bodelian Library, Radcliffe Camera, most of Oxford's venerated Colleges that make up the Universtity of Oxford….. Westgate Shopping centre even if you must! Without being too flippant though, a pleasant Canal walk gets you to Oxford station and a fifty two minute train journey to Central London (Paddington).

More locally, St Barnabas Church has a vibrant, eclectic local congregation and is very much part of the beating heart of the community. Walton Street is the de facto go to for being a part of the community with its many excellent cafes, restaurants AND a Sainsburys all in a short stretch and within an even shorter walk! And if its open countryside you think you'll missing, a ten minute pleasant canal side stroll brings you right to the entrance of Port Meadow, 340 acres of publicly accessible open land with the River Thames flowing right through it. An SSSI (Site of Scientific Special Interest), Port Meadow brings the Countryside almost to your doorstep with amazing walks, wild swimming, canoeing and sailing (Medley Sailing Club) together with award winning gastro pubs thrown in - Google the Perch and the Trout Inns.

If you'd like to know more, I thoroughly recommend a visit to You Tube and search for both, "Jericho Open Door" and "Our Jericho" and you will find two superb half hour documentaries from local resident and film maker. Maggie Black who made the films in 1974 and then 2019 respectively.

If you'd like more information on the house (schools, transport links, planning applications etc) go to the photos section on the portals (( ... ), ( ... )) and click on 'virtual tour' or if you're looking on my website, click on 'virtual tour'. It's a little confusing as their are two 'virtual tour' options - one is a short video of the house and the other is the detailed report. Have a look at both.

Even better, call me to arrange a viewing! I look forward to metting you...
