An immaculately appointed two-bedroom character cottage with high specification interiors, within the sought-after village of Barnsley.

Description

Appointed to an exceptional standard by an interior designer, The Cottage is a stunning Grade II-listed semi-detached home that has been subject to an extensive renovation in 2023. The early 19th-century cottage has been completely transformed and as such is presented in an immaculate condition, ready for the new owner to stamp their personality on the space. The accommodation feels light and airy, with good natural light, and is enhanced by premium features such as solid French oak flooring, deep window seats which invite visitors to sit and relax, traditional cast iron radiators, Jim Lawrence light switches and sockets and soft, elegant Farrow & Ball paint colours throughout. The sitting room is fitted with a Charnwood wood-burning stove inset within a Cotswold stone surround. This leads to a charming dining room and onwards to the kitchen at the rear – a particular highlight with its deVOL cabinetry and stone work surfaces, an Everhot range cooker and an AEG fridge, freezer and dishwasher. There is a shower room adjacent to the kitchen with Perrin and Rowe fittings, while upstairs there are two good-size double bedrooms.

The Cottage is set back from the road behind a Cotswold stone dry stone wall, which has been recently rebuilt and restored. A pair of wooden gates open to the beautifully landscaped garden, which wraps around the east side of the house over two levels. On the lower level there is space for dining furniture, while on the upper level there are extensive flowerbeds stocked with a variety of herbs, box hedging, small trees and shrubs bisected by paths. The garden also features a Victorian-style greenhouse and composting area .On the opposite side of the road there is a private parking area for 2 cars.

Location

Cirencester is about four miles west and has an excellent range of shops including a Waitrose supermarket and many independent boutiques. The main regional centres include Cheltenham, Oxford and Swindon, all of which are within daily commuting distance.

The A419/A417 dual carriageway which links the M4 and M5 is around three miles away and there are direct rail services to London Paddington from Kemble and Swindon stations, the latter scheduled to take approximately 55 minutes.

There are ample sporting opportunities in the area including a number of golf courses, many lovely walks, riding on local bridleways and a number of acclaimed equestrian establishments in dressage, eventing, racing and polo.
