Townsend Letting & Management was originally established in 2008 (under the name Upstairs Downstairs Lettings) to bring together high quality apartments and houses with professional tenants in Taunton and surrounding area. There are two directors, Jane Townsend and Nick Townsend who are supported by administration staff and contractors who help oversee the various aspects of the business. Jane Townsend, Managing Director, has over 30 years’ experience in all aspects of the residential property market. Jane advises and helps negotiate on behalf of purchasers buying investment properties. Due to her long experience with the rental market, she is available to provide invaluable information on the best type of property purchase to ensure landlords make the most objective business decision. With none of the ties of an estate agency, her advice is impartial and specific to whatever your requirements. Nick Townsend, Jane’s husband, joined the Company at its inception and provides valuable support in administration and maintenance issues. He undertakes regular visits of our managed portfolio, thus ensuring properties are maintained to the highest of standard in order to optimise rental levels and lettability. He is on hand to both landlords and tenants to answer any queries, ranging from day to day maintenance works, to offering advice on refurbishment, obtaining quotes for complete renovation and overseeing works to completion. All our trusted contractors are vetted to ensure they have the correct insurance and professional membership in place; they have worked with us for many years guaranteeing that any works are finished to the highest of standards. We firmly believe in the importance of regulation and by being a licensed member of ARLA Propertymark  – it gives both tenants and landlords peace of mind that they are dealing with a regulated agent. The industry is still rife with unskilled, unregulated agents who will attempt to entice you in with offers of low start up fees but provide you with poor quality service and advice, but much worse is that there is no security in the event that the company fails. We are also a member of the Property Redress Scheme (PRS) and subscribe to their code of practice for Letting Agents. Both of these memberships ensure we offer a professional service of the highest standard and help us act with integrity and care.
