A characterful four-bedroom Georgian home situated in the heart of the historic and highly desirable village of Cherington.

Description

Yew Tree House is a Grade II listed Georgian four-bedroom house, directly opposite the village green and originally built in 1706. It was formerly a pub and has gone through many changes over the years, including a recent and extensive five-year renovation project. Upgrades to the property have included bespoke high quality carpentry throughout, replumbing, rewiring, a loft conversion, new plastering, new roofing and added insulation.

A new contemporary style kitchen was also fitted recently in 2022, featuring Ruby Watts designer lighting and a large skylight for added natural light. The property also has a separate laundry room set off from the kitchen. The reception spaces are bright and spacious and provide the ideal balance between relaxing and entertaining. Several character features remain, including exposed stone walls and beams.

This fabulous 'ready to move-in' house has four bedrooms, including a second floor guest bedroom with a freestanding bath. The additional upstairs and downstairs bath/shower rooms have underfloor heating and feature additions from Perrin & Roe and BC designs.

Outside
The house is in the heart of Cherington, positioned centrally on to the village green with its Grade II listed former drinking fountain. It is fronted by a charming garden with an enclosed lawn, which is bordered by a variety of trees and shrubs and also features a gravel patio area for hosting. There is ample parking, and there is now a combined gym/storage outbuilding as part of the recent renovations which offers a variety of uses.

Location

The house is situated in the heart of Cherington, in a splendid semi-rural setting, just 0.2 miles from Cherington Park. Avening (1.5 miles) has a reputable local pub – the Bell Inn – plus a variety of other amenities and a village primary.

The property is also located just under four miles north of central Tetbury, a popular and lively traditional Cotswold market town well known for its 17th and 18th century architecture. Historically, the town was known for its wool market and more recently antique shops but today boutique and specialist shops, together with cafes, an award-winning bakery, restaurants and bistros have come to the fore. For families, there are several schooling options, including St. Mary’s C of E Primary School and, just outside, Sir William Romney’s school. There is superstore shopping and a variety of dining options at the edge of Tetbury town and a wider choice of supermarkets, shops and leisure facilities in nearby Nailsworth (4.2 miles), Cirencester (9.2 miles) and Dursley (11.3 miles).

There are direct rail services to London Paddington from Kemble and Swindon stations, the latter scheduled to take approximately 55 minutes. There is good access to the M5 towards Bristol via the A419. Cotswold airport is just 6.4 miles away from the property. All distances are approximate.

Also nearby is the world-famous National Arboretum at Westonbirt (7.2 miles) which covers 600 acres and boasts one of the most varied specimen collections in Europe as well as some 17 miles of trails. Other recreational opportunities include golf at both Westonbirt and Minchinhampton, sailing at the Cotswold Water Park, motor racing at the Castle Combe circuit and racing at Cheltenham.
