Went Wood offers the opportunity to own an exceptional broadleaf woodland nestled in the heart of the Kent countryside.
This ancient, semi-natural woodland is primarily hornbeam coppice of various ages, interspersed with stunning mature oak trees. Due to its ecological significance, Went Wood, as part of the larger Frith Wood, is subject to a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) and Article 4 protection. The woodland also features pockets of natural regeneration, including species like hawthorn, birch, and chestnut.
The site is crisscrossed by wide rides and footpaths, providing excellent access to all parts of the woodland. The well-spaced trees and tall canopy allow sunlight to flood the area, illuminating the open spaces and glades. With flat, easily navigable terrain, it's perfect for setting up a base for woodland activities.
Adjacent to the larger Dering Wood, Frith Wood is a haven for wildlife and nature enthusiasts. Deer frequently visit the area, with their tracks visible throughout the woodland.
There are no public footpaths crossing or near the woodland, ensuring privacy. The sale includes sporting rights.
Located between the picturesque villages of Smarden and Pluckley, Went Wood benefits from excellent transport links, including easy access to the M20. Both London and the coast are within convenient reach.
Ward is Upper Weald and the county council is Kent.
Boundaries: The boundary is open on all sides and borders the access track to the north and wide rides to the east, west and south.
Access: There is excellent vehicle access all year round via a hard track and shared locked gate. Parking is possible within the woodland itself.
Covenant: There is a covenant on the wood designed to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of this and adjoining woodlands, click HERE to read and download.
