Situated behind the Overstrand cricket pavilion, the property originally served as servants' quarters and stables, as well as a Guest House for Lord Battersea’s esteemed guests, including notable figures such as Oscar Wilde and Sir Winston Churchill.

One unique feature of the estate is a tunnel connecting The Pleasaunce to the property's former grounds. This tunnel was purportedly used to prevent guests and servants from using the front entrance, in line with Lady Battersea's wishes.
