A beautifully refurbished former manse, built during the elegant Arts and Crafts era.

Description

This pretty five bedroom former manse, set in attractive gardens and grounds, has recently undergone a significant programme of refurbishment and interior design whilst retaining many of its original features. With superior double glazing it is now a beautifully presented and welcoming home.

The house was built circa 1900 as the manse for Stanley Church (recently acquired by a family).

A vestibule opens to the hall which has the main rooms of the house on either side. On the left is the open plan kitchen/living room which spans the depth of the house. The Wren kitchen has a south facing bay window and a decorative mantel surrounding a wood burning stove which opens into a comfortable sitting area.

On the righthand side of the hall is a beautiful entertaining space for more formal dining at one end and a drawing room at the other. The ornate fireplace is surrounded by bespoke cupboards and shelving. The room has four windows (including two lovely bays) which fill the room with light. Also on the ground floor there is a utility/boot room leading to a back door with drying cupboard. There is a downstairs bathroom with shower.

On the first floor there are four double bedrooms (one with en suite shower room), an additional single bedroom, and a large bathroom. Whilst Old Kirk House is wonderfully bright and sunny in the summer, its double glazed windows and wood burning stove in addition to the central heating, keep it cosy in the winter.

Outside
Old Kirk House is approached by a driveway which leads both to the church and the private drive and parking area of the house. The attractive gardens are divided into several different areas. At the front of the house there is additional parking edged by a colourful herbaceous border.

To the west there is an area of flat lawn with fruit trees and a summerhouse. On the village side of the house there is a delightful terrace for outside entertaining and dining, leading out to a lawn with mature trees and rhododendrons. A further enclosed area is ideal for a productive garden and has an abundance of shrubs and greenery as well as a polytunnel.
