Description

Taids Cottage is situated in a beautiful, natural setting, surrounded by nature. The original part of the house dates back to the 1800's which exudes character, with later additions. The house is predominantly built from stone with some timber frame, which is evident in the spacious entrance hall. From here you can access the main reception rooms, including the dining room which has a stone inglenook fireplace, with a wood burning stove and a set of double doors which lead into the charming sitting room. Both these rooms offer spacious but cosy accommodation for both family and entertaining.

The kitchen breakfast has a selection of wall and base units with oak worktops. There is an integrated electric oven with a gas hob. The Stanley Range, fuelled by wood, provides further cooking and heating facilities, and also heats the hot water and radiators. The central heating can also be fuelled by the oil boiler situated in the utility room. The kitchen also provides access to the utility and boot room where there is a WC and a door leading onto the raised decking and seating area.

The kitchen has a set of double doors which lead into the impressive oak framed sun room, which is very much a selling point of this wonderful home. There is plenty of natural light flooding in along with impressive views of the grounds. A wood burning stove provides warmth and comfort in the winter months and double doors open onto the decking and seating area, making it perfect for entertaining and al fresco dining during the summer months.

The first floor offers in plenty of natural light through Velux windows, and provides access to the double aspect principal bedroom, with an en suite shower room. Bedroom two is a generous double, with fitted wardrobes across the length of one wall. There are a further two double bedrooms, one with a WC and sink and a separate family bathroom with a bath and rain shower over.

Gardens & Grounds

The gardens at Taids Cottage are both charming and interesting, offering plenty of space to enjoy whilst also being incredibly private. Surrounded by open fields and hills on one side and Candy woods the other side, there is plenty of nature to admire along with a delightful spring fed stream which meanders through the grounds into the larger stream beyond. Being slightly elevated, the grounds of Taids Cottage are rich with flora and fauna and are mainly laid to lawn with a number of specimen and fruit trees including Rowan, flowering Cherry, Victoria Plum and William Pear. The apple trees are particularly tempting having Cox’s Orange Pippin, Arthur Turner and Katie varieties. Within the grounds is a greenhouse and a fruit and vegetable cage.

There are two gated parking areas, one to the front of the house which opens onto a gravel driveway, and above the house where there is a much larger gravel parking area, with a separate workshop, log store and a two car port. An oak framed porch is draped with a beautiful climbing rose and the front of the house has a Virginia Creeper, both of which offer beautiful colour.

The house is situated on a very quiet lane which is a no through road, leading to a farm much further on. Therefore, you really are surrounded by your own nature haven.

Location

Nestled within its own private idyll, Taids Cottage offers the best of both worlds. A wonderful lifestyle and yet within three miles of the market town of Oswestry and about two miles from the village of Trefonen, which has a village shop and post office, a primary school, village hall and The Barley Mow pub. Trefonen offers a wonderful community and is also the home of the well known Trefonen Hill Walk, a yearly tradition amongst other activities within the village during May bank holiday. The Offa's Dyke Path runs through the village and also close to Taids Cottage.

Oswestry is a market town with a selection of high street and independent shops, restaurants, supermarkets, a museum, leisure centre, Oswestry School, The Marches Academy, Moreton Hall girls school, and the market hall which has an open market every Wednesday and Saturday and the indoor market throughout the week.
