Troytown is a small Hamlet situated approximately 4 miles East of the County Town of Dorchester and 1 mile from the ever popular village of Puddletown. The River Piddle runs through the village with water meadows to the north and woodland to the south. The village church dates back to between 13th and 15th Century although the main village was developed around the square in the 1860's. The village has excellent facilities including a shop/post office, first and middle schools, new doctors' surgery, a veterinary surgery and The Blue Vinny public house. Puddletown has excellent transport links including a regular bus service and also has good road network between all villages and towns. Moreton village (approximately 4 miles away) provides a local train station as well as Dorchester town with main line railway connection to London Waterloo and Bristol.
