Key information
Features and description
Building Plot, extending to about 0.7 acres, in the Conservation village of Birnam. With Planning Consent for residential development. The current design incorporates low energy use, passive solar gain and materials from sustainable local sources which reflect the rural location.
On 1 December 2023, Perth & Kinross Council granted a Planning Application (Ref. 23/00276/FLL) for the demolition of the existing derelict holiday chalets and erection of a multi-generational family home.
The proposed dwelling was designed by Ann Nisbet Studio —an award winning architecture practice which specialises in innovative and sustainable new build homes. This design incorporates low energy use, passive solar gain and materials from sustainable local sources which reflect the rural location. It creates a sensitive, low visual impact building that blends well to the existing landscape. The full Design Statement, plans etc are available on request.
Birnam is a Conservation Area and the design of the dwelling has been carefully considered so as not to impact the area or the existing trees on the site.
The new dwelling will be sited on the plot of three small derelict holiday chalets which are still in situ. It has also been noted that there has been an outcrop of Giant Hogweed on the site which has now been treated.
