Situated on one of the most sought after roads in Cirencester, this immaculate family home offers flexible living and sits centrally in wonderful mature gardens.

Description

Firwood is situated in one of the most sought-after areas of Cirencester. This elegant property is situated 1 mile from the town centre and wrapped in mature gardens of around 0.8 of an acre providing a real feeling of seclusion.

This elegant family house was constructed in the 1920’s by a well-regarded local building firm, for the owner to live in. Built in the Arts and Crafts style from Cotswold Stone with mullioned windows, it retains many classic features such as oak panelled doors and window seats.

The property is approached through electric gates and along a widening driveway which provides parking for at least six cars in front of two integral garages.

Firwood has previously undergone extensive extension and renovation offering versatile and flexible family accommodation. The property is immaculately presented throughout supporting modern living whilst retaining period charm.

The ground floor has feature fireplaces in the study, sitting room, dining room and orangery. A handmade bespoke kitchen, by local craft kitchen maker Benchwood, was fitted in November 2015. The kitchen has a large larder area adjoining it and there is a separate utility room, with matching granite worktops throughout. The ground floor also has a boot room, temperature and humidity-controlled wine store, log store and a further study.

On the first floor there is a generously sized master bedroom suite, four further double bedrooms, two of which are en suite, and a family bathroom. Three bedrooms have handpainted wardrobes which provide generous storage and an additional further bedroom. There are three spacious boarded loft areas.

The house has network access points and Sky TV points throughout the principal rooms, and underfloor heating in the kitchen, orangery and the bathrooms.

Firwood sits well back from Somerford Road and has a large front garden principally laid to lawn and encased by specimen fir trees and mature shrubs. The rear of the house is south facing and three rooms lead onto the stone terrace which runs the width of the house. The garden has an 8m x 4m heated swimming pool, a summer house with tri-fold doors, pool house, a large workshop/store, and a greenhouse.

Location

Somerford Road is widely regarded as one of the very best in Cirencester. Located on the edge of Cirencester offering the best of both worlds, Firwood is close to the beautiful nearby countryside and also close to the heart of Cirencester’s town centre with a thriving market place, countless good quality shops and attractive Abbey Grounds.

The main centres for the region are Cheltenham, Gloucester, Swindon, Oxford, Bath and Bristol. Cirencester has excellent communications to the rest of the country, being approximately 18 miles from Junction 15 of the M4 and only 4 miles from Kemble Station (London Paddington 78 minutes approx.).

There are many lovely walks in the area, particularly in the Abbey Grounds and nearby Cirencester Park. There are a number of excellent schools within daily driving distance. Including Deer Park School, Farmor’s School in Fairford as well as Hatherop Castle, Pinewood, Beaudesert Park and Rendcomb.

A good range of sporting opportunities in the area include various golf courses and racing at Cheltenham and Newbury. There are high profile equestrian events including Badminton and Gatcombe Horse Trials and polo at Westonbirt and Cirencester Park.
